Great win for wrexham today, only non league side to beat league side, and it was good league 1 side away. I hope we get a bit of luck and get one of the giants away as we are desperate for the money. Will probably get a bad draw like crawley away.

Group A: Poland, Greece, Russia, Czech Republic.

Group B: Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Portugal.

Group C: Spain, Italy, Republic of Ireland, Croatia.

Group D: Ukraine, Sweden, France, England.

Thoughts? Some tasty games in there. Germany - Netherlands in particular, England - France, Spain - Italy. Group A is a bit of a joke, Group B is a real humdinger, ROI have a bitch of a group, England have a reasonable group but I can see them making a total pigs ear of it.

socrates was from the last great brazillian attacking sides of 82 and 86. After that 1990 onwards they were more clued up on tactics and played with a more european style(defense). It might be rose tinted specs as I was only 8 and 12 in those 82 and 86 world cups but they were awsome.

It also helped not many brazillians played in europe in those dyas, and not many games on tv they were like these gods that you never saw going to grounds like villa, walsall, west brom lol.

A generally predictable weekend in the premiership. Tomorrow massive game for liverpool with all their rivals winning. I think liverpool will rise to the occasion and win by a couple of goals. 2 questions from this weekend.

1. He may look out of shape but is there a better finisher in the premiership than yakubu?

2. Is there a more dull team in the premiership than villa? Funny birmingham were dull last season, you would think there is a link!

would have to agree with you there.

yakabu has always got goals, suprised everton got rid of especially with there striker shortage.

villa have some really good footballers, cant see bannan lasting long there. he could really be a good footballer if he gets his head sorted out.

interesting couple of weeks for city, with bayern, chelsea and arsenal in next 3 games.

On our note, Steve Taylor out for the season, Collocini with a short-term injury and Mike Williamson still injured medium-term, looks like we're sufferring a bit of a crisis in central defense. I'm kinda hoping we'll buy in January, as Williamson, while he was pretty good last season, wasn't amazing, and if S Taylor is out for the season, we'll need a better partner for Collocini if we're going to try and hold onto a top 7 finish.

yeah it does seem your struggluing centre of defence, I like s taylor although everytime I watch him I keep thinking of the handball he did a few years back and collapsed like he had been shot.

newcastle getting relegated was the best thing that happened to them, as winning games gave them alot of confidence coming back up. Same thing will happen to west ham.

obertan still looks shit though,

newcastle are like spurs to me, its always nice to see them doing well. if newcastle cand get another striker to supplement ba you could be in for a good top 7 or 8 finish.

league cup runners up doesnt count like the fa cup, that gets transferred to the league.

first time I saw sammy ameobi on satuday, and he looks pretty decent prospect. although you cant really tell on a cameo role like that, I remember macheda against villa couple of years ago looked good.

interesting how you feel about pardew and ashley, as they got slaughtered by the media and fans a year or so ago. ashley just seems to like pressing the self destruct button all the time, everything going well and he changes the stadium name. Although with the way its going you cant really complain, but like utd and the glaziers! as long as fergie is winning the trophies there wont be mass protests, but ass soon as that stops it will be mayhem.

I've watch them quite a lot this season and they look really really good this season. They've had a lot of injuries too and not really shown it yet, at WBA there was no VDV or Modric and they still won - albeit they looked worse then usual - like any side without their most creative players I guess. They have a huge amount of depth in their ranks too and are pretty much out the Europa now so shouldn't have any dip from that (Albeit they just used it to keep their second string fit anyway).

Obviously they'll have a dip like any team, I guess it's down to how they react to a few losses. In terms of football they've looked far better then the times I've watched Liverpool thus far. Not seen a lot of Arsenal but I get the impression Spurs could cope with an injury to VDV, Modric or Adebayor more so then Arsenal to Van Persie...

They're managed by flaky 'Enry, and their players are managing a level that's been beyond them in previous years. I can't see it lasting, particularly as their midfielders are at about their seasons average for scoring already, so it's likely that it won't keep up.

The only improvement they've made to their squad for this season is Parker, and while he's a very decent player I don't see him as being able to hold up that improvement for the whole season.

Plus 'Enry is going to jail in February, then the shit will really hit the fan. 'Enry doesn't think he is tho, as shown by his comments about the England job last week, a job he won't get after he's been banged up.
