Disappointed with the Cider Bus

On wednesday I arrived, got set up and fancied a pint so I though I'd try a hot and spicy from the cider bus, but my I.D was rejected, I used the same I.D at many other bars with no issues!

I have a Citizencard which is part of the government PASS scheme, it's ridiculous!

I bought a pint of cider and paid with a Scottish £20 note, and the girl said " do you get much bother paying for things with this silly money?"

Er, no actually - it's sterling rolleyes.gif

At the bar to the left of the Other stage I got asked for ID by an older male member of staff dressed as a pirate, now this is all good and well but I'm 33yrs old and sadly look it with a bald head and thick stubble. I pointed this out to him however he was having none of it and declined to serve me, at first I thought it was a joke but I was informed that this would happen to me all across the site as everyone regardless of how old they look would be asked for ID as standard ..... I wasn't asked again oddly enough !!!!

I was at the Pennard Organic Vineyard stall on Saturday and the owner was getting a bollocking from the licencing officer from the Council. They'd sent out a load of test purchasers and apparently he'd served a 15 year old. Quite aside from that being entrapment, how many 15 year olds are genuinely going to want to buy organic raspberry wine, FFS...

But I guess that means everywhere got test purchased, hence the strict ID policies. Your Citizencard should have been accepted, though, as long as it had a PASS logo, and you should report their failure to accept it. That said, this makes interesting reading: http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/consumer_advice/citizencard.shtml

My son was ID'd at the cider bus and I was impressed by them, the guy was sort of apologetic and I was more than happy with how they were doing things. They are watched like hawks and they have had it drummed into them that they could get caught out and not to take risks and clearly, from talking to the bar staff, it worked.

Bar staff everywhere I visited were doing a fine job this year, not a moment of complaint from me :) Cheers to everyone serving.

First festival I have been to without being ID at some point. I was rocking an incredible moustache this year however.

Most of the time they know you are old enough to be served, I have even been told so, but its not worth them taking the risk if they are being watched by a bar manager or someone from the council for the 15 odd seconds it takes to check ID.

    • Hezbollah rejected it. Really Israel should get the f**k out, and US and others should support the Lebanese govt in defeating Hezbollah.
