I got my usual 'bloody hell Lucy, why do you bring so much stuff with you?' banter on arrival at CT.

The casual digs soon ended when I was handing out spare blankets for the cold CT campers, dry clothes to those soaked through, had a washing line set up in my tent to dry stuff on and space blankets to stop the leaking in the tents.

Note to all the people who had trouble getting through the mud...next time, bring or fashion walking sticks. I brought 2 with me, one broke (but I then fixed it). Never fell over once and was able to yoink myself out any sticky patches. Gazebo poles are very useful for this purpose.

I want to say thanks to the guy who helped my when i got proper stuck in the mud. I was shouting my mates but they couldnt hear me. This guy came along and helped my out. Thanks whoever you are. :)

I also helped out quite a few get free from the mud, gave a guy a tissue at the pyramid stage who was suffering from hayfever. Also a girl who was desperate for the loo but had no tissue!

It was lovely seeing lots of people helping each other out. Reminds me of how special the festival is and that we are all one big family whilst we are there!!

Yet another addition to the falling over story. I was wearing my boots which are so much better than wellies but still by the John Peel where the mud was ridiculous I got stuck several times. One time some random chap fought his way to me from near the bar across to me, offered me his hand and pulled me free. He then disappeared with barely enough time for me to thank him. Fantastic

You seem like a lovely person. If only we were all as prepared!

Much thanks to the couple (I assume they were a couple) who pulled my trolley with all my gear in from the dance village end of the other stage all the way up to the Park entrance on the Wednesday evening as I was off to meet my mates to set up camp - simply because they were going that way anyway and I looked that I was about to keel over and die with the weight. No reason at all for them to have offered me help but they did and it was appreciated.

Also big up to the person who helped me up after I'd managed to fall over four times in the mud whilst heading to the toilets during The Chemical Brothers. I was how I shall I say it, a bit floaty; got one foot stuck, then the other one and fell first onto my knees, then my arse, then onto just one of my knees and then back onto my arse again - without that blokes help I think I'd have just had to watch the rest of The Chems set sat down in the mud the state I was in.

Nice thread this.

OK this is actually more of a confession. :(

Monday morning, left Shanrgri-La everyone heads back to camp (4.30am approx) me and one other mate decided to head up for the sunrise then head to bed.

Sat down, rolled a joint..chatting a little between ourselves, then the guy next to us starts chatting to us. Seems ok, lad from Liverpool, tells us it's his first Glastonbury and how much he's enjoyed it, chatted to him a bit about Coldplay and Chemical Brothers and the festival, and then he tells us this story about meeting Wayne Rooney and a fight happening which my mate doesn't believe.

Anyway having told him we were only popping up quickly, the sunrises he shakes our hands and then offers us some of his rum and coke which is the last bit of drink he has left. Put it back on his chair and then this lad from behind him runs up and takes the bottle (whilst he's looking up at the sunrise) which I see - I tell my mate, wondering whether to say anything (which the thief would see) or not, before we've had a chance to do anything, the other guy has run off.

And with that we left too, dunno why but I felt bad for not saying anything to the Scouse lad...Maybe I shouldn't feel so bad about a small thing?

Just he seemed so happy about his weekend, and tbf we weren't chatting much back as we were on our last legs, then his drink got stolen and I sort of could have prevented it.

Plus also from the papers turns out his story about Rooney was true. ;)

Sunday night- walking between West Holts and leftfield and dropped some money (not sure how as was convinced it was in my money belt)

Some lovely man pointed it out so I wasn't £40 down

Walking down from the Park on Friday evening (with some delicious nachos in my hand) this girl got here foot stuck in the mud. I tried to jut pull her out at first but that wasn't working but some bloke said- shall I push her to which we all said now as that would of ended up with her, me (and my food!!) in the mud. So ended up having to physically pull her welly out whilst she leant on me whilst still having my food intact!

Outside the Piano Bar at about 3am saturday night, someone asked me if I had any spare baccy. I duly obliged, but also decided to offer him some weed to put in it as well. "Blimey, are you some sort of charity or something?" he replied. No, I was just in a really good mood.

Me and my wife found a ticket on the way in on Wednesday on the walk down to the festival. It wasn't gate A but a wee backward road that you had to walk past loads of houses to get to. But I seen this ticket on the ground half way down the road and it belonged to some Ed guy. We thought about handing it it over to security, but decided to continue walking and see if we could find Ed on the way. We thought he would most likely be at the gates frantically searching everything. Sure enough when we got there, the same guy in the photo was ripping everything from his bag, looking as if he was going to cry. He was very relieved when he seen what we had brought. Over joyed would describe it better.

Lost count of the number of folk I pulled out the mud this weekend... bless.

We met some lovely gay guys from London who gave us some of their vodka and lemonade - they even had cups and straws - so well prepared! Thanks Mike if you read this!

    • I was hoping that they would just do a tour like they were set to in 2020, rather than having Download as their UK appearance. If they are at DL, I would be surprised to see them headline. I think they sub under Deftones or SOAD
    • well, we might know by the end of next month if they drop the lineup early again
    • I'm definitely not camping 🙂.  My 17 year old Daughter and her friends are there 3 days and commuting back to Sheffield each day as didn't want to camp .  I am taking and picking up the Saturday so thought I may as well get a ticket as love Fontaines DC - need to do a lot of research on the other acts though to fill my day.    I walked through the camp site other year the day Arctic Monkeys played and it was like a War Zone.  My Son has camped a couple of times but didn't fancy my Daughter staying over.
    • Not at all impressed with Polanski saying "noone should be barred from public life" wrt the Tory neo-nazi. I really don't think "no nazis in politics" should be an excessive standard.
