Kool & The Gang

Did anyone else go and watch Kool & The Gang last night. I was going to watch The Streets, headed to the John Peel stage early and didn't really like the atmosphere so I went up to the West Holts stage and got a perfect spot front middle and the atmosphere was absolutely perfect everybody was up for it. I didn't really know what to expect, knew it would be a bit cheesy but they came on and blew me away. Everything about that show was great, the atmosphere with everyone dancing, the funk jams that lasted up to 7 minutes and all the hits they played at the end. I thought that after they played get down on it the set had ended but the hits just kept on coming. Yeah some parts were a bit cheesy but it was like that with Stevie Wonder last year. Dancing to celebration was a perfect way to end to festival.

Classic gig and I can't wait to relive that on the coverage. If you're watching I'm the one with the long brown hair and glasses dancing like an absolute loon.

I loved it! I was sat at the back on the concrete benches and even from there I was able to get really into it. My girlfriend danced around like a loon and had her best time, which was all the more fantastic as we had started off at Beyoncnull (who she really wanted to see) to make up for my leaving her on her own for over 4 hours whilst I watched Pulp in The Park. Bey was utter drivel, she sensed that and said, "So where can we go to have some real fun before we go?" I suggested Kool & The Gang, she'd forgotten they were on and we had the best time!

Ironically, they put on exactly kind of show that Beyoncnull needed to but was utterly incapable of.

I've been to glastonbury in 2010 and 2011, and that was the best performance, enthusiasm, hit after hit, feel good vibe, and it lifted what i thought was a rather 'awkward' festival for me, cause i'd built it up so much!

Was really blown away by how good their performance was. Had been expecting a slightly aloof band just playing the hits, but they put a great effort into their set and really got the Glastonbury vibe

Saw some great up and coming acts over the weekend who put on excellent shows, but sometimes with older acts you get better shows as they really know their stuff and have a wealth of material to play. That was the case with Kool and The Gang - great way to end the festival.

I flipped a coin as whether to go with group of friends seeing Kool and the Gang or Beyonce. The gods of fate decided on Kool and the Gang for me, and I was so impressed with them. Great set, sounded fantastic even from near the Brothers Bar. As an added bonus those kind people at the bar gave us a free cider =)

They were easily one of my favourite things of the whole week. Amazingly talented musicians who'd got everything down so perfectly that it just looked spontaneous. Haven't seen a singer conduct a band like that in real life before, the sort of thing James Brown used to do. A band from another era that puts many of today's bands to shame.

Took my fiancée to see them, a bit worried she wouldnt know any of the songs as she's a good few years younger than me, we were sat at the front of the viewing platform and just loved it all the way through! They were incredible. We've decided to look at using cherish as our wedding first song and then celebration later in the evening but using the video coverage (if possible) so everyone who wasn't there can join in just like at west holts, I don't think I've ever seen a crowd loose themselves so much and scream so loud over and over again! It was the perfect set to end glasto 2011 :)

most fun ive had at a gig or anywhere else in a longgg time!,the west holts crowds(espec. headliner crowds) really know how to clap and sing and have a great time(where as some other and pyramid crowds mostly stayed still, talked over the bands and were not into it0 enough

I stayed for the signing to thank them for the gig,and got my passport signed by them! Hahah, brilliant ending to the fest!.

We got bored with the "this one goes out for all the ladies" sexist bollocks after about five songs. Shame.

that was pissing me right off too - I was having a conflict between just how good they were when they played, being countered by that sexist crap.

For me, the music just about won out but only just.

    • Considering how popular of a booking Scooter have been I think they'd go down well
    • I mean I think unless you are camped in a particular bit which apparently you just get no sleep i feel it would be better setup to travel in from a hotel each day and back. Ah there is so many downfalls to it for me, I think the Download main stage area is so much better and that's coming from me. If you're camped in green to go round all the time and out for lidl and even water is stupid!
