As above, can't see it being last ever :P and reports of them not being stunning live any more, Its more than likely I would, just to say I've seen but i do think is that a good enough reason? I guess for me it would depend on how they are in the run up to glasto!

Seriously though, presume if this is all true it'll be well out before October.

i'm not entirely sure about that.

If the stones work things in their normal way, it'll be the case that they won't 100% confirm to Glasto that they're playing or not until late December / early January.

I'm pretty sure that the stones have been pencilled in by Glasto as one of their headliners at least once in recent years but it came to nothing because the band pulled back on plans to tour. It's certainly the case that for the last two festivals the fest has had to change their headliner plans quite late on (tho for last year it seems pretty clear that the 'lost' headliner was Prince rather than the Stones).

If that's really happened then it's been successfully kept under wraps before and the same might happen this time too - it's not like the rumour hasn't been going around in other years as well. But this time, I guess, more people are more likely to think there's something to it because of the 50 years things.

Is this your own info or you think it's likely?

I have no solid info about the stones for next year, or for previous years. They're notoriously difficult for anyone to get good info about, and while some stuff does slip out it's generally the case that it's only after an official announcement that anyone is sure that someone was talking the truth of things.

But .... there are things I've been told over recent years which has me believing that Glastonbury has been trying hard to get them. If they are ever going to get them then it's looking like it's next year or never.

From the Stones side of things, Glasto is probably the perfect way to bow out (even if it's not quite their very final show), because it will be a fantastic way to promote their back catalogue - there probably isn't anything else which would do that as well as Glasto would.

Could they not just have Englebert Humperdink, Gareth Gates and Black Lace headlining? I'm not too fussed about seeing huge acts play and it would make tickets alot easier to aquire.

Looks like they've denied it. On twitter and on the guardian site they've said both the stones camp and Glasto camp have denied it...

...which can only mean its true and they didn't want it to be released so early.

Did ME not say he already had his 2013 headliners booked? If that's true I reckon it points to Radiohead being one of the nights.

he has, but he's also said something since which pretty much proves he doesn't have them (all?) booked after all - which is pretty standard going to Michael.

Radiohead would defo be within the possibilities, but I also think it's a bit obvious - so perhaps not what will happen in the end.

    • belated thanks for this ended up going, was a good evening and a great venue with a cracking beer selection (give the festival a few tips on that). Never been in before despite reasonably local.       Main takeaways from the film (as someone who didnt go for much later). The festival has changes a lot since then apart from the Green Fields that looked the exact same.  Me and my mate both agreed that Shambala is today than Glastonbury.   Cool piece of merch aswell.
