Think about album cycles and whatnot, for a lot of the larger bands who operate a little bit slower, it will be a lot of bands who released stuff 09/10 who will be due again in 2013.

Given that, Arcade Fire would be due. They'll wrap up everything 'Suburbs' over the next few months then take their 12 months or so to get something new together, few more months to release it, kick a tour off, and voila, it's spring/summer 2013.

Pop acts work quickly. We've kind of reverted to an age gone by where pop acts always have something in the charts. There's no time off, and they're less on album cycles and more on continual-singles-presence plans. GaGa, Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry - it's been a continual cycle for years now, they don't 'go away'. Given that, I reckon we'll get a new GaGa album in 2013, even though that's a relatively quick turnaround by others standards. Also, Beyonce was a monster, if there were any doubts about such a 'pop' headliner, they're gone now.

So, my bets are Arcade Fire, Lady GaGa, and someone in that never before/legend/one off spot. That could be anyone and isn't necessarily determined by album or tour cycles.

Bloc Party would be great if the other two acts were friggin' huge. Hopefully they would snub R+L's money for a Glasto appearance & album sales.

With another album out I would hope Friendly Fires, The Wombats & Two Door Cinema Club shoot up near the top 3/4 of the Pyramid.

    • Yesterday was was Primavera is all about and a reminder of why I come back every year. I saw 9 acts, very diverse in terms of genre and vibe, and most of them were great.  Highlights:   The Cure - have wanted to see them for years. Finally caught them and it was immaculate. Robert Smith's vocals at his age are incredible. The band sounded exactly like the albums which is impressive. 2.5 hours with basically no filler somehow.  Viagra Boys - what a front man! So much energy. Non stop moshing. Sound was great, vibe was top notch. Again 10/10 for me.  Rilo Kiley - basically what pipan said. Not a huge crowd but nice vibe, good sound. Different from the other acts I saw.   I also enjoyed the late night electronic stuff with Aurora Halal and KI/KI being fun. Caught some of Skrillex before Aurora Halal and it was cool in it's own way but not really my thing so we left.
    • Dream Blink day    Blink - Turnstile - Neck Deep - The Story So Far
    • The vibe for Avalanches was spectacular, but i totally understand not wanting to wait in a queue for however long it was.   I had to miss Ethel Cain to queue. Bit annoying, but I had never seen the Avalanches before (either live or DJ set) and it was every bit as joyful as I hoped.   Great little stage, either way.
    • The Smashing Pumpkins are also a shout
