Sorry guys about delay in posting - I have been busy with work and not been able to give this my full attention alas. :(

I have got my Victor Meldrew mask today (and if you want one the cheapest available is *HERE*)

file_24_5.jpg

Anyway I would like us to start at the Cider Bus on Thursday, after the proposed flashmob has finished at the Stone Circle, as I want to be there for that.

(I thought it was about 5pm but it is actually at 9.15pm :( B*gger)

So I am thinking about 6.30pm(ish) onwards; stay around Cider Bus to chat for maybe 1-2 hours and then go off en-masse somewhere...

I would like us to all wear something cheap and simple that show that we are all in the OGM - apart from masks has anyone any suggestions?

I am going to try and get 50 badges of the 'Efestivals Old Gits at Glasto Meet 2011' made as a souvenier, which will hand out to paricipants. It is not 100% confirmed yet as I want to talk to the badge makers to see if they can be delivered in time. If it does happen any donation toward the cost would be welcomed.

I want to keep this simple as trying to keep tabs on a large group of people during a festival is well nigh impossible - I heard it described recently as 'cat hearding' lol

I therefore propose we decide on a max of 2 venues for the evening and stick with those. I would like some help here guys and gals - your suggestions are welcomed otherwise I will arbitarily choose a couple of places to attend. EDIT: The Spirit of '71 stage has limited information regarding times on the Thursday alas. I have just been checking the Halvin Clashfinder and nothing listed but some info appears on the Official Glasto sit - so not sure about this now...

I know at some stage I will be meeting Lucy and a number of other efest friends, who will be in 'The Snakepit' up at Shangri-la, but quite when this will happen I am not sure.

Anyone else apart from me and TSU fancy attending 'The Snakepit' or is that place a bit too decadent for the rest of you? :P

Anyway any positive suggestions about any aspect of this meet would be welcomed.

Many Thanks for your patience..

Best Wishes

Dave

Hi, I'm officially middle aged now; hair and hormones are out of control, so definitely qualify as a " hag" and may join you!

Any thoughts on what we girlies should wear?

And does anyone fancy "Guilty Pleasures" on Thursday night?

Happy to follow the herd though!

We definitely ought to bimble over to the Spirit of 71 Stage at some time, if only to check it out, as it seems to embody what we're about. I love the idea of badges (still got my Monorail one from a couple of years ago). I think we should all make a contribution to the cost as it may be hard for Dave to get by on a pension.

50 'Old Gits and Hags Meet' badges ordered !

One less thing to sort out hopefully ;)

If people give me a small donation towards the cost I will give any surplus to the Glasto Wateraid Charity :)

Only flea in my hair about that is that there may be nothing going on on that stage Thursday night. It's not got a mention that day so far on Clashfinder.

You old Haggits have heard of Clashfinder, right? :P

Spot on. :)

That leaves two other meets to aim for IMO:

9pm somewhere in the Stone Circle.

11pm at The Snake Pit? (Shangri-La).

Does that work?

It's our 1st time in cv so don't have a clue where anything is lol! happy to meet on top of hill of death (not sure I like the sound of that) maybe 5.30 would be good? Give us enough time to stagger over to cider bus ;)

How about 8:30 Stone Circle, ready for 9pm's shenanigans? Then 10pm for a round at that Avalon bar (not the cafe but very close). Not then far to treck for the 11pm Snake Pit.

Main concern with that is a lot of movements.

What say, Dave Mac?

    • Rotten communication. Actually god awful. Posting sporadically on IG, closing Mordor only to reopen and cause some serious carnage. Left the festival as it got too much for my 16year old daughter. She was devastated about Alex G and Mac…but TV girl could have saved it. Took us until 1220 and already home to find out they might/are playing. Pish.    and on another note, this festival has lost its bastard soul. Gone are the wee tents with local sellers selling vinyl, t shirts etc, now you can buy a 50 f**king eur official T-shirt. The ar*e is truely out of this event now. I went to Porto for the first time last year and it was fab. I love Barcelona and the line up is always stacked, but this festival is a corporate loss take. Hopefully a better day tomorrow.
    • f**king horrendous and seems they couldn’t run an egg and spoon race.  zero info and the crush waiting to get in to see Massive Attack was potentially disasterous. Zero info, no stewards at all and was told that the whole evening was cancelled, when we got to the exit. Because it rained. First time attendee and i’ve got onsay, i’m far from impressed. Scalping bastard taxis asking €37 plus for an €11 fare too. Wonderdul.
    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
