Hello!

This will be my first time at Glastonbuy this year, been to many many festivals before though! So I am assuming like many other festivals you aren't allowed to take your own alcohol into the main festival area.

Anyone got any excellent smuggling ideas to avoid paying the "london bar prices"? Beer cans down the wellies is just too hard to walk, but a wine bag down the shorts works, but you walk like you shit yourself

You assume wrong. There is no 'main festival area'. Once you're in you're in. Drink you're drinks wherever you want. Smuggling not required!

I am too use to going to festivals in Ireland were they clamp down on the likes of this because the festivals are full of scumbags who spoil it for everyone else. No campfires, no stoves. England are superb at hosting festivals. I went to Reading in 2001 and couldnt believe how crap Oxegen was compared to it!

If its going to be as hot as it is today the only thing I'll be drinking is ice cold bottles of water-well at least until the temperature drops a bit in the evening.

Take as much as you like, they don't mind so long as you don't look as if you're taking a shed load in to sell on to others. Since there's no embargo on it you'll struggle to sell it on anyway. As has been said the only thing you can't have is glass bottles. You'll need to pour everything into plastic bottles. Only real drawback of taking your own instead of buying it is that you have to think about how you are going to keep it cool in the "El Scorchio" weather conditions we are going to get

There is only one big perimiter fence so the camping areas have no barriers to the performance areas and they don't kick you out of these areas at night after the acts have finished either.

Tuborg Lager, Gaymers Apple Cider, Gaymers Pear Cider, Burrow Hill Cider - Guinness

A Range of Ales - Pimms - Smirnoff Ice - Cocktails: Bloody Mary’s, Mojitos

Wine: Ponte Prosecco (A sparkling white wine), Lanvin Champagne, Las Ondas White, Ochre Mountain Red and Ivenio Rose wine will be served.

Spirits:Gordon’s Gin, Bulliet Bourbon, Bells Whisky, Smirnoff Vodka, Havana Club Rum, Cuervo Especial Tequila.

Non-Alcoholic Drinks:Red Bull, Pepsi, Lemonade, Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice, Bottled Water.

Please note that not every bar will have the above but all the Main Bars will have this range.

Not every Bar will have a ' A Range of Ales ' as its down to access and space.

By the way every time you are at a bar run by the WBC - the staff you meet are all working for free and they donate their wages to trade unions - various charities and community groups { this is not a full list as it would take up the whole page }

It looks like you've had the main questions answered- there is no arena, you can take as much as u like as long as you dont try to sell it, and you need to take plastic or cans... If you like drinking local cider, i came across this via facebook (the girlfriend posted it on my wall): http://www.trickycider.com/glastonbury-festival-cider

It looks like these guys are selling plastic jerry cans of the good stuff just outside the entrance to glasto where there are often long queues. I think peoople will be going up and down the queues taking orders etc so you dont have to pull in to the lay-by and lose your place in the queue...

Trading Standards will be all over them if they have not been granted the correct license.

Sure if the bars did not have to pay Vat and Tax they could sell their drinks far cheaper - many people who trade illegally will tend not to bother with little things like vat and tax.

I don't have a clue if that is what they are up to but it is suspect when they don't state which Lay-by location they intend to use on their site.

They're a limited company and the website mentions a mobile bar with experience of applying for temporary licenses. Whether they have one for the lay-by is another matter though.

beware of the extra dry cider at the cider bus, I'm used to cider but this really fukked my tongue and throat up almost to panic attack!
