UK Outlook for Friday 17 Jun 2011 to Friday 1 Jul 2011:

The start of the period looks to be rather unsettled, particularly across northern parts, with temperatures locally below average where rain persists. However slightly warmer and more settled conditions are likely to gradually spread from the southeast to most parts. There are still likely to be showers or longer periods of rain at times though, but these should become increasingly punctuated by drier interludes as June progresses. Temperatures across the UK will return to around average, maybe slightly above if any sunny spells persist.

I'm taking a note of everyone on this thread who complains about it being too hot last year. Yeah it was a bit energy-sapping but if the weather Gods hear your complaints and hit us with 5 days of swirling rain, wind and bone-chilling cold during the festival I'm holding you all responsible. Everyone'll be huddling round camera's looking at pictures of 2010 for warmth, whistfully imagining how great 33 degree heat will be. Certainly far preferable to welly-confiscating mud, let's put it that way

This year I shall definitely be buying another one of these. In the past when I knew I was heading to a super sunny fest I would always buy one. If you have them on mist spray mode, just walk along spraying it in front of you and you stay lovely and cool. I totally forgot to get one last year.

You also make a lot of friends who ask to have some cooling spray their way. You also get a lot of 'I'll buy that off you for XXX' and 'Wow what a great idea'.

Brilliant in audiences if you set it in shoot mode, the only grumpy buggers are those you unintentionally hit when they are rolling up a fag.

Shade is a problem as Glastonbury, but if you've got a hat it's no real hassle. 33C is not that hot and certainly not worth complaining about - drink soft drinks, wear a hat, use sunscreen (factor 6 or better). I've walked up 2000m hills in Turkey at hotter temps than this and been walking in Nevada and Utah in much higher temps; and at altitude. For those who are worried I would suggest laying off the booze till you know if your body can cope.

Hot and dry is always better than wet and cold.

Damn it, I'm trying to cut down the amount I take, yet every time I come on these threads I end up adding to my list. Where's best place to get them from? I could just use an empty Cif spray bottle, but would prefer something which didn't contain bleach to start off with.

+1 Lucy, i agree, my sister has skin cancer, there is no cure, no respite and she will have it forever! all they can do is keep cutting bits of her off, she looks like a dot-to-dot puzzle! Factor 30 is the minimum protection you need if you have white skin!

Well, That will be slip slap slop again (slip on a shirt, slap on a hat, slop on the sunscreen).

I'll pack my wellies again just to make absoloutely bloody shure it is a scorcher!

As to the taste of the tap water, slight the water with a little dark rum or cheap own brand whiskey, about a shots worth per 500ml, should do it plenty.

I've also heard it suggested that using a (used) tea bag will do it nicely as well, just take the tea bag out of the cup before you put the milk in! as teh milk residue will spoil.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who struggles when it gets very hot.

I'm a bit of a wussy in the heat, but having said that my 3 Glastos have all been in scorching weather and it would be a real shame if I had to wear wellies this summer. I've never had to put on wellies at Glasto before.

As it is going to be a scorcher and sun cream will be needed you should get Riemann p20. This stuff really is magic and has seen me (a pasty ginger) through 50 degree heat in Dubai and a fortnight in the caibbean sun. You only have to apply it once a day and it's not a cream so no nasty sticky sweat etc. I cannot recommend it highly enough, if it works for a borderline albino like me then it will do the job for anyone.

The tap water tasted disgustng in 2009, I could still taste it in a cup of coffeee!

...But last year I thought they had it sorted. Every tap I went to, it seemed to be lovely and cold, and the taste was clear.

My husband is dead fussy about water and won't drink it from the tap at home, but was fine at Glastonbury last year.
