I am in the middle of persuading my group to head down to Ashcombe Farm on the Tuesday, if I am succesful in persuading them, we won't be arriving until around 9pm. Hopefully after we've set up camp we can then head on to the Riflemans.

(I currently have 3 yes, 1 maybe, 1 not sure it's a good idea and still waiting on the other 3)

  • 2 weeks later...

Would love to socialize at Rifleman's, but we're staying at Cannards Grave Farmhouse, which is near Shepton Mallet. Since we won't have a car, the only way we could make it, is if we caught a lift from someone.

If anybody is staying at this same b&b, or in Shepton Mallet, and are also heading to Rifleman's, then let me know please.

Supposedly there are a couple of pubs across from where we're staying, so we'll probably check out what's going on there if we get thirsty and/or bored.

When you say village do you mean the town of Glastonbury or little Pilton? The Riflemans is at the eastern end of G Town and parking is a bit tight but you could park in town and pootle down to the pub. Pilton on the otherhand is outside the festy site but a fair distance from G Town. It does have its own pubs (not sure if they are open the night before though). The pub at the entrance to PGA should be open.

Folks who are working... If you're camped inside the fence, check if there's a gate closing time for Tuesday night.

The schedule I have says gates close at 10pm, but isn't specific on dates this applies.

If you're outside the fence (e.g. Oxfam), check with your management. You might not be included in the 'lock down'.

Have a blast folks! Was in the riflemans at Easter. Top pub. :)

Normally the Monday/Tuesday night the gates close later (if at all) due to the volume of staff arriving for shifts. I might be travelling back onto site after the Riflemans (if I get a crew band on arrival Monday) or just staying at Ashcombe if not.

I've just been on street view on google maps looking at the route from Glastonbury town to the site and on the A37 just before Park Hill near Pilton I came across a white haulage truck what looked like it was carrying the frame for the big screens they use on the pyramid/other stage...

The Riflemans Pub is about 2-3 miles west of the festival site. Apart from booking taxis from the carparks, walking isnt an entirely safe option I shouldnt think.

    • Ok, ok, I have done it! Not because of limitless upvoats but to support the Efestivals site.
    • She was/is 100% in the mix, but I don't know specific timings and how it relates to that interview. They've clearly gone after her, again.   It could be read in a number of ways - she was in negotiations at that point, she was talking about BST (and he's interpreted it, as we have, as Glastonbury). Who knows
    • So sad to see the news that John Douglas of the Trashcan Sinatras has died. They only released their latest album last week and it is wonderful.  So underrated and a member of such a great long running band that have meant so much to me over the last 40 years. https://trashcansinatras.com/blogs/news/john-douglas-1963-2026
    • listening to jamie east's podcast earlier he said that he'd heard fender is confirmed, and that as of 2 weeks ago Madonna hadn't been approached.
    • which would make that Graham Norton interview nonsense .... although obviously things change
