DISCRIMINATION

A silly assertion. I'm not strictly speaking Welsh, though I've lived over half my life in Wales and cheer for Wales when they play England. I've never encountered discrimination against the Welsh at Glasto and I don't know on what basis you make such a claim. Are you sure it's not discrimination against you for some other reason?

The act itself is well intentioned, and I agree there needs to be such a thing, but the outcomes of the current act are pretty stupid sometimes.

I help design and build websites for consultations sometimes, and the average cost of putting up two sites for the consultation, one in welsh, one in english is generally around £50k more than the standard cost, sometimes up to £100k for massive consultations.

The average number of people using the welsh language site or responding in welsh is literally zero. Even for consultations about wales.

I work for a government organisation. We have over 1000 pieces of correspondence. All of which require welsh translation, welsh branding & the system configuration to allow them to be sent out if required.

0.5% of our client base has a welsh language requirement, but the development costs are 50/50 for English & Welsh.

The spirit of the Act may well be correct. The implications of the legal implementation are ridiculous!
