I can't seem to grasp FF's playing almost everywhere it seems. I'm a huge fan but i'm almost sick of seeing their name everywhere and they haven't even played a show yet!

So, they're playing...

2 Of their own shows at MK:Bowl- 120,000 people alone over both days.

Oxegen

TITP

IOW

and now Radio 1's big weekend.

Plus I'm expecting, like most people, for them to headline Reading next year and they mentioned that they were doing an Arena tour sometime.

Too much Foo for me.

So MCR did a version of Common People by Pulp. Does anyone think that, in someways, if they play it, they will ruin the build up to the even more epic Pulp version. It sounds extremely similar except from Gerard Way's annoying American voice.

Why are you so obsessed with the R&L line up? I assume you have no interest in going? Were you ever contemplating going? It's like you're glad that the festival has a so called weak line up. There are alot of people very happy with the line up. I take it you're going to V? I think the V line up is horrible. I'd rather have my bollocks chemically burnt off than go anywhere near that fest, do I go on there going on about how shit it is? No I don't as even though I feel the R&L line up is far superior I wouldn't gloat as I'm sure the people going to V will have an amazing time and good on them.

As for V having a really good booking with Eminem as an exclusive, did you see him at TITP last year? He's awful live. V Fest is welcome to him.

Im not going to V no, Im just commenting on all festivals in general, anyway, I haven't been slagging it off really, just Benn, Im glad that the bubble seems to be bursting in the whole sell out straight away thing, thats all, and I didn't like Benn's smugness. Im certainly not obsessed with it, I talk about all the line ups of all the fests, especially ones Ive been to before and will always have an interest in, I hope that everyone going to a certain festoval gets the line up they want but the market is obsessed with getting exclusives and it dilutes the consumers experience.

Im just a bit shocked with the Reading and Leeds line up, and Im able to write about whatever fest I want, Im not trolling, just saying how I feel, Im not looking to try and get a reaction. Im glad you enjoy the fest, you look at the fest the right way and you are loyal to it. Thats fair enough, if you went on the V board too, you would see how much im slagging that off as well and Ive been the past six years straight but I ain't going this year, its as you say horrible. I've been very loyal to that fest over the years but enough is enough.

Anyway, sorry if I upset you with my comments, no intention to.

No worries, I'm just getting a bit fed up with the constant slagging off of the festival. i do agree that this years headliners aren't the bset but the undercard is fantastic.

Every fest has a bad year, you simply can't consistently have strong headliners. We'll see how strong the line up is once it's complete.

Just out of interest & going off topic... who do you think out of the under card is making it a strong one for you?

Personally for me it's just really Friendly Fires, Enter Shikari (who aren't big bands) & Madness for nostalgic/fun reasons.

If we're talking about non Main stage headliners then, The National, Madness, The Streets, 2 Many DJs, Elbow, Interpol, The Pigeon Detectives and The View. I also think there'll be alot of acst on the Festival Republic I'll be wanting to see.

i think if you look at the line up as a whole there's something for everyone, quite a good varied line up and as i've said in other threads there's nothing R&L does better than spot the next big thing and catch them before they become huge. It'll be interesting to see who it is this year. The Vaccines will be mentioned but IMO that's an obvious choice as they're clearly gonna be big.

It's a fair point, not only the gigs but they've got a film coming out, they played the big NME gig and show and there seems to be a new article about them every few days on nme.com. Everything they do is high profile and they're definitely getting massive exposure at the moment. Not that I mind, I think they're fantastic.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
