Not really. Most people think they were non existent before I Bet You Look Good, when as I pointed out they already had a significant following at the time the record came out/when they played the Carling stage.

That's the efests review of them playing th Carling stage. The point I was making was that they gradually built up their hype and popularity, rather than the over night success people seem to think.

They are back together and have dates in America, the only slot I could see them doing thats still available though is FR headliner?

I mean obvs the majority of people that go to R+L are younger than the majority of JAMC's fanbase, but The Cure are headlining, and bands from that period have played FR before?

Yeah but not very often, they're unlikely to have The Cure and JAMC headlining stages in the same year. Plus The Cure at Bestival last year showed they can successfully headline to a young-ish crowd, I wouldn't say JAMC could even on a smaller stage. In fact The Cure and JAMC are completely diffeent bands with different histories and different profiles and even though they may both be older you can't say that if one can play then so can the other.

Bands like them don't tend to play R+L. Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, etc. have all had tour dates around the time of the festival and not been booked in previous years. And J&MC when they first did reunion shows played around that time and didn't get booked actually.

I reckon ATP might try and get them for next year, or hopefully they'll be in Bestival's announcement this week...

And I know plenty of young people who are interested in them

But you're right, I dont know about whether they'd want to play it and can understand why they wouldn't

I don't thnik JAMC would get anywhere near as big a slot as Jane's Addiction. JAMC just don't appeal to casual fans or have any history of mainstream success to fall back on.
