2012 Lineup

Florence, Kasabian and Foo Fighters still seems far more realistic at the minute to me. R & L aren't scared of thrusting somebody deemed 'not ready' into the headliner limelight (Arcade Fire 2010, MCR 2011) and Florence is one of the hottest properties on the current festival circuit, she'll sell tickets and bring in fans. Granted Florence has only two albums so far, in comparison to Arcade Fire's three (if only released weeks earlier) and MCR's four/five (?) but this is a booking that has Melvin Benn written all over it.

If Blur are announced on the 12th we can all celebrate, for now I remain sceptical.

Should really discount a rumor on the basis of something that Livenation.... the promoter selling tickets says?

The same Livenation who booked Faith No More and an EXCLUSIVE for download in 2009 then booked them for Reading?

The same Livenation/promoter who says EVERY SINGLE year that they have the best headliners/lineup in the world no matter who they have booked.

The same Livenation who has been selling tickets to Viagogo ; )

Now I'm not saying that any of the above statements are necesarily relevant to this perticular situation and I'm not saying that the statement about Blur's single major live performance in 2012 is def a lie, I'm simply saying that those little words certainly wouldn't stop them playing at Reading/Leeds because...

...all promoters talk out of their arse to sell tickets, the lie, they bend the truth, they exagerate all the fricking time!

Nah, they said performance even then they are still playing a fest which has a bigger attendance than the o2, Europe's biggest arena.

In fairness they never said they weren't selling tixs on Viagogo.

but neither do they admit that they are - which says they're ashamed of what they do, but not so ashamed that they won't make themselves rich at punter's expense.

We get press releases all the time from these promoters. They only say "tickets available from See Tickets" (or whoever), but never says "tickets available from Viagogo".

Their silence on the matter gets to show that they'd rather you didn't know they are touting scumbags.

Some people might try and justify that touting by saying "that's capitalism in action" - but TRUE capitalism doesn't need a scam to make money, true capitalism has buyers with perfect information via which they can make the perfect buying decision.

as an act that's headlined quite a few times already they'd surely be viewed as a standard R/L act I'd guess.

I detest Blur, although it seems I'm the only one who does, even Noel Gallagher is a fan these days. It'd be a strong booking for the festival, and I'll admit that Foos-Kasabian-Blur is a very strong run of headliners, I just have hate those 3 bands. I have a feeling it'll be The Cure, but maybe that's just wishful thinking because I fucking love The Cure. If it is Blur then I will go along and see if they can convert me.
