Do you smoke?

Smoking *is* cool .... fact

I used to smoke malboros and then switched to roll-ups when the cost was getting too much, now i'll never go back again. Much prefer them. Taste nicer, less chemicals, less of a smell, cheaper.

wrong ( on the most part anyway)

I smoke a lot (20+ a day) and I know how much smokers smellI stopped for 9 months a coupla years ago, and even though I smoke now, my kids dont know, I carry a can of deo in the car, and have a can in the garage for when I go out for a fag. and the wife reminds me everytime I have one how much I stink. I also have a bottle of mouthwash in the bathroom in case sexytime happens.

I hate it, wish I could quit, but I cave so easily. call me weak (i know I am).

embassy number one by the way.

I know, its very futile, and very sad (sneaking around hiding it from the kids) my daughter is 14, and isnt stupid, but the lad is 6, and I could pick him up from school wearing a pink deerstalker and he wouldnt even notice.

When I say they dont know, I mean I dont smoke in front of them, and it is never spoken about. it actually makes me more ashamed than I already am about smoking. I'm seriously considering those electric cigarettes, because if I cant chuck nicotine addiction, at least they give you a nicotine hit on demand, dont smell, and are about 20 times cheaper. patches work when I am at home, but once I get in the car or go to the boozer, I'm f**ked.

Yep. I'm a leper. I normally start training courses by doing the usual "The fire exits are this way, the toilets are down there" etc and then I ask "Hands up the smokers." I put my hand up, look for the other lepers and explain reassuringly "We'll have a fag break about 11.30. Everyone else can have a coffee break but we'll cheat and have a fag and then a coffee."

The last course I ran we had about 40 participants. I put my hand up and found I was staring at a sea of people not one of whom had put a hand up. So I said "When you all have a coffee at 11.30 I'm going out for a fag."

Fagbreak time arrived. I went outside and I found three of the participants also came out and lit up.

"You didn't put your hands up," I said.

"Well," they explained, "We were too ashamed to admit we smoked."

We sad lepers have got to stick together. You still meet all the interesting people in smokers corner.

Oh, and the answer to the question is I smoke Royals.

We've had this discussion in college about whether health care workers should be able to smoke whilst on a break.

Yes they should.

An employer buys their employees' time for the stipulated number of hours each week, and break times within that time are not the employers' but the employees'.

An employer buys their employees' time for the stipulated number of hours each week, they are not buying someone's life, they are not buying themselves a slave.

I've always thought that smokers are on average slightly more interesting people than non-smokers. Obviously this isn't a clear cut rule, but I think smoking is a sign of someone having a slightly more interesting back story and a personality that is a little bit more rough round the edges. Its a difficult thing to explain and I'm expecting a backlash, but its the way I perceive things.

Nope i don't smoke. Saves my money, saves my lungs, i'm not constantly looking for the next fag, i don't get aggitated because the we're not having a fag break and i don't stink afterwards.

Smokers don't understand how disgusting they smell. I'll have been in my brothers car and he will be smoking, i leave and all i can do is smell the smoke on my clothes..

I'm a smoker and to be honest yes I apologise for it sometimes. You do stink and your clothes stink.

I gave up for eight years but restarted after my dad died and my mum had to go into a care home. The pressures were on and I just turned to one of the guys at work and bummed a fag. And that was it. Back smoking.

I know it's daft. I tell my kids it's daft. I know all the arguments but still I smoke.

If you are a nicotine addict when you start to crave you dip below 'normal.' All a cigarette does is bring you back up to normal. It doesn't take you anywhere else - unlike some other substances. So you are spending good money just to stay 'normal.'

Mrs Grumpyhack hates smoking. It's a no smoking house. If I want a fag I have to go out into the garden or down to my 'Posh Shed' which is a bit like a home office in the garden where I have my computers, printers, prepare and mark courses, listen to music, converse on line etc.

I wouldn't dream of smoking in someone else's house and flound it really strange a couple of years ago when on holiday in Majorcia I was told by a restaurant owner that I could smoke at the table. But I just couldn't do it and chose to go outside and smoke in the street, even though it was raining and cold (it was December).

So, sometimes I'm an apologetic and considerate smoker. But yes, I'm still a smoker.

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
