Aretha Franklin has pancreatic cancer

One of music's true legends, Aretha Franklin is battling pancreatic cancer. Some sources say the soul legend has just a year to live, it's usually much less than that.

She'll be one of the acts I'll never get to see live if she's unable to recover.

Pancreatic cancer is a swift but horrible way to go, my mum died of it. I hope she pulls through, but the odds are slim.

The reports the other day was she had coped well with the most recent operation she had had.

Sad news indeed. I worked with a man (only 50ish) who was diagnosed it 10 days before Christmas and he had died by the 22nd. There was no warning, he had no idea he was even sick to that point. It was such a shock to all and so often not known about until it just far far too late.

Sorry to hear boarders trials with the big c, and sad news about Aretha Franklin, one of the greatest female voices ever put on record.

I was utterly convinced that David McCallum had died from some AIDS related condition back in the early 90s. I mean, it's one thing thinking someone has died, but another entirely when you've got the entire f**king back story going on.

I only change my avatar for free gifts from Brothers. Mmm what lovely perry they make. Brothers really are a spiffing company. In my opinion if society was to collapse and there was only 1 company left standing, then that company should be Brothers.

    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
    • Lifelong Carlisle United supporter here.🤦‍♂️ Good luck for the coming Season and see you in October!
    • Any other lower league/non-league supporters on here? It’s all change at my team, Aldershot Town. We’ve released 25 players and the new manager has brought in 21 or 22 completely new players. Going to be an interesting gamble.   There’s a little video here on the reasons why:
