beady eye were offered an afternoon slot and turned it down. they are only playing festivals that offer slots that befit liam's own view of his greatness - leeds/reading 2nd stage headline [my chemical romance are headlining main stage  ]

personally glad of this as the material is laughable and like a poorer oasis. and who would have thought that was possible!!

saw beady eye last night and kane miles. mr miles was great he's so so good he really is, he loves to strut around the stage in true rock n roll style, hes voice is excellent and so are he's tunes.

beady eye. i was very disappointed and left early. not because beady eye are rubbish or even the songs aren't good, there just no way near good enought. i found it hard to understand liam being on stage and not singing great oasis songs like rock n roll star an live forver. i no its beady eye and not oasis but i found it all very very strange by the reaction of the crowd maybe i wasen't the only one.

beady eye are not full on rock n roll and there no were near as good as oasis thats why i was left disappointed.

it seemed the band were missing noel musically.

Love em or hate em, Oasis recorded some really catchy pop tunes.

I bought the News of the World yesterday on the strength of a freebie cd with Beady Eye on for £1. I don't listen to the radio much and don't watch TV so I'd not heard anything of them before. Can't say I was particularly impressed. Seemed to be standard early rock'n'roll with a whiney voice over.

Liam Gallagher, a thoroughly considered artist:

“We just like what we do. I heard that f**king Radiohead record and I just go, ‘What?!’ I like to think that what we do, we do f**king well. Them writing a song about a f**king tree? Give me a f**king break! A thousand year old tree? Go f**k yourself! You’d have thought he’d have written a song about a modern tree or one that was planted last week. You know what I mean?”

Why doesn't he just stick to pretending to support Man City and designing clothes that make complete dickheads instantly recognisable :(

i wrote it rather late, after a few beers so maybe not the best english used. yes i found the hole thing very very stange, liam had bigged up beady eye saying "beady eye will be better than oasis" there just not. alot of the slower songs (witch there was alot of) i found would of been better noel singing them in a acoustic style. noel even said alot of beady eye's songs were old oasis demos so who no's maybe they were ment for noel in the first place.

so i was left very disappointed, and thought the hole thing was very very stange.

I went to the gig last night and was up in the circle but don't get this "lacking something" feeling. As you said, it's not a lack of tunes or poor musicianship (obviously my opinion - others would disagree) but I guess some people needed a bit of time to know the songs - the album has only been out for 5 days and they've only really had one proper single after all. Saw Bez and Badly Drawn boy up near my seats. Thought Bez was gonna sit next to me to for a bit but he moved off. That would have been class!

It's a shame you didn't enjoy it though. Everyone in our group thought it was brilliant, including two girls who didn't even like Oasis. As with all Oasis related gigs there far too many Liam wannabe knobheads with Mod haircuts in one place for my liking. What's with the fashion scarves as well?

Anyway, they're playing in America on 23rd June so, coupled with Liam's hate for Glasto, I think we can rule them out.

Hi I was also at Manchester Apollo last night. I understand exactly what you are saying. I'd been looking forward to the gig for weeks and made a 300 mile round trip to be there. I was in the circle with my daughter and felt the crowd was somewhat subdued. I thought Liam and the band were good, but there was something missing. I expected the place to go wild and for Beady Eye to take the roof off, but it just didn't happen. In contrast I was at Morrissey's 50th birthday gig in the same venue (again in the circle) and the atmosphere was electric. It wasn't just that the songs are new or not so good, on the contrary I actually think the songs are pretty OK. And it wasn't that the band weren't good, for me they were. But it wasn't as I expected; for me it was an OK/good gig and it could/should have been awesome. Just wasn't the homecoming for Liam I expected and hoped for.

Agree fully about last night!! My own personal opinion...I think they played most of the heavier stuff too early and it just died out as the night went on!! Overall I'd say it was a pretty average gig which is how I feel about the album. I was hoping I'd be blown away but wasn't. Suppose playing on a sunday night isnt the best either.

The Liam wannabes make me laugh....agree with the scarves? whats even more they cost up to £90 on pretty green!!

.......:huh: I have NO idea what people are saying that these gigs missed something? Either that or the barras is just a much better gig venue that wherever in Manchester it was.

Album has been out for a week give it a chance eh? I like how people say Liam isn't relevant anymore but cannot wait to abuse him or in general slate the f**k of him.

Still Nolo solo album please :)

    • He's still got the whole festival period on his tour dates list. The 4th is given as the Mac's Record Label showcase, which was separately announced for that date (obviously it's unlikely Mac would be on a different date to his own project)     I had AdP third down on Woods but Lucinda Williams pulling out and her de facto replacement playing a different day mixed things up, coupled with Ty Segall playing Garden solo last year.

    • Nothing But Thieves was £73 as well. Felt for a while like arena gigs are getting to extreme levels but this is adding to that. I did think there might be more inflation thanks to the latest rise in energy costs and here we are again.
