Ah f**k. I loved pulp, still do. But reformations are never as good, they're not right., it's an exercise in nostalgia and I don't like that.

Yeah, I'll be there, yeah, I'll be grinning like a maniac, but you know, there's something not right about it.

It's like getting back with an ex after a few years. Generally, a f**king dreadful idea. The odd reasonable shag but you're both trapped in the past.

Pavement, The Pixies, Velvet Underground, Pistols etc etc all pissed away any good feeling I had about them by reforming

right, obligatory grumpy bastard post over with. Play on...

This reunion doesnt make mich sense to me though I must admit.

I'd have thought that it's come about because around a year ago when there were "Pulp to reform" stories floating about, just about everyone was saying what a good thing it would be. So I'm guessing they've followed thru on it.

But it's a bit weird, cos Pulp went out with a wimper last time - their popularity had dropped considerably. They headlined Homelands and GuilFest in their last year.

    • Brazil's first half was genuinely dreadful all round, not just the midfield, so they're absolutely not bulletproof. Whether Scotland have the quality to take advantage is a different question.   Tbf, that's as much on Morocco looking good, which I did think was a possibility. They could be a bit annoyed with themselves not to have scored more before Vini's goal tbh.
    • Surely nowadays with so much data analytics available on every division in world football and so much awareness that people aren't suckered in on the basis of a decent World Cup game... right?   Although tbf, from what I saw, Australia's game plan worked very well. But that was as much thanks to Turkey blowing varying opportunities given they created enough chances but couldn't finish, a la what happened with Switzerland against Qatar when they really could and should've won by 3/4 goals.
    • I missed Viagra Boys for a good spot for Gorillaz. Was a nice weekend and festival for me. Would definitely come back, if the line up is right. Get back home safe everyone.
    • The Last Temptation - new Heaven 17 documentary film directed by James Strong. Premiered at Sheffield Docfest this weekend.    I really enjoyed it. Affectionate, insightful, and honest. A nice mix of archival and footage, interviews and clips from the last tour. Martyn and Glenn are like an old married couple.   Plus a snippet of news from the Q&A, Martyn is recording new BEF material, and Phil Oakey has collaborated on the one of tracks. The film shows them meeting in Fagans for the first time in over 35 years.
