The Event

I watched the first 2 parts of this show last night. Not sure what to make of it. Its obvious its been made to fill the gaping hole where Lost and all its other big event tv shows have created.

I have checked it out on Wiki to find out more and it sounds reasonable enough to follow but I hope if it does take off, it doesnt end up in the same silly way that all the rest do with 5+ series and an interminably annoying saga that doesnt resolved itself properly at the end.

Did anyone else get tempted by it?

i watched it last night, i really enjoyed it. it is very similar to lost in that it is SO confusing! i felt like i couldn't miss a second of it because there was so much happening and i really had to concentrate..

i can tell i'm going to become addicted to it, can't wait to watch it next week.

I'm certainly intrigued with who is and who isnt a good or bad guy/alien/whatever.

Lots of why's and who's aren't there?

Why did the girlfriend's dad get picked specifically for piloting the plane?

Why is Sean being targeted?

What are the aliens?

And so on...

its more exciting than Pillars of the Earth, thats for certain!

I enjoyed Pillars of the Earth but with it being a bit too fictional in olde Englande and Rufus Sewell not playing a baddy (for once) it didnt entirely grip me. And the hammy acting by Sarah Parish and family isnt great. I will try and watch the rest of the series and hopes it picks up a bit.

Donald Southerland was totally out of place too.

But I liked the hammy nature of it, and it didn't take itself too seriously.

And McShane lights up the screen in everything he does. I love Deadwood.

I watched it. It's like 24, Lost and Flash Forward went out for a few drinks, it all got out of hand, then 9 months later a lovechild was born.

I enjoyed it, not sure if it is going to go anywhere good, but will watch it all the same to see what happens. Wherever they were on holiday looked stunning, when they were snorkelling I wanted to be in that water!

Who else reckons the strange/dodgy CIA guy with the glasses is actually one of 'them'?

And just WHAT did happen to all the passengers?

Of course its "the new LOST", because loads of suits sat in an office having a brainstorming session about how they can repeat the success of LOST, and this is what they came up with. Flashforwards writing team tried and failed to be the new LOST.

"The Event" can f**k off.

If you are watching this and you havent seen "The Wire" - please go and kill yourself now.

I missed the start last night so I decided to wait an hour then watch it on C4+1. So I tuned in an hour later and was thourougly confused. When it ended I realized that I had been watching the wrong channel and had just finishd watching the second episode without seeing the first

Seemed pretty good, so I'm downloading the first episode now :)

The problem with the Wire is that the first episode is so mind numbingly boring I couldn't be bothered to watch any more of it.

I really loved the first series of The Wire - I found the dialogue in the second series really hard to get my ear around for some reason and gave up about half way through. One for pre-baby maternity leave maybe!

We watched The Event last night and agree with brighteyes - fairly enjoyable but with the potential to become annoyingly drawn out. All felt quite familiar.

Can't be bothered with it, the 1st epsiode was ok enough but what's with all these shows that can't tell story in stright line and instead every other scene is 13 months ago, then 5 mins ago make up your bloody mind it's as if have a wafer thin plot will some be better if you jumble up how you tell it.
