Is there noise coming from the staff camping? Is it flood prone? Is it a good place to camp? Relatively quiet?

We camped at the top of Paines up against the fence and about halfway down towards Dairy Ground. It was fantastic. Loads of space around us, lovely neighbours and really quiet at night. We never had anyone falling into the tent or tripping over the lines because we had no 'through' traffic as there was nowhere for anyone to go! The only slight downside was negotiating everyone elses tents getting back to ours, but it really wasn't too bad as the distance to the path is pretty short. Twas about a 15 minute walk I guess to the Other stage. Never heard a peep from staff camping but we were probably a bit too 'out of the way' to hear anything

We camped pretty much at the center bottom of your squiggle in Dairy (I would argue that Dairy and Paines are seperated by the hedge), about 10 yards from the lock up and TW point. The major noise was from the "these springs are far to strong for these doors" longdrops and their constant slam slam slam. Also the occasional drone of vendors generators and refridgeration units.

A couple of years before that we were in Paines, at pretty much the center left of your squiggle, and it was dead quiet. We were next to the hedge in what is now crew camping. I guess if you camped on t'other side of the hedge (in Dairy) it would be just as quiet. Easily the quietest place I have camped in seven Glastonburys, only disturbed by a couple of ballon heads filling up from their canisters every twenty minutes. I honestly don't think they left their camp for the entire festival.

It was the fence - If you look at the map as if you are coming in through PGD, follow the fence (marked in burgundy on the map) to just before where the first green hedge is marked and thats where we were! First of our group onsite to camp was there around 10ish I guess - I was still in the bloody 4 hour queue! LOL! There was still a fair amount of room around us on Thursday evening though although once it got to Friday people were camping in fire lanes!

Another massive bonus was that it was literally a 5 minute walk to my car!

Friends who turned up a fair bit later than me and who were in a further away carpark got in before me and started setting up camp.

We camped against the hedge to the left of your squiggle in what I'd consider to be the bottom end of Dairy and it was fine, no issues with noise and I did't think it was too far to walk to the other stage etc. Fab place for PGD & car parks. We were Tuesday night overnighters in W36 and faced the silly cattle market queues to get out of the car park but once at the gates strolled straight through. All set up and ready to wander off by 10.30am Weds. Only thing to consider is that the hedge & ditch acts as an uofficial walk way and so you do have some human traffic passing by  Overall everyone was nice & chilled and wouldn't hesitate to head back there :D

To be honest, it was a pretty good spot.....accessible for most areas convieniently, and no "wrong tent" shenanigans at all (touch wood)....plus the 5 min walk to the car a definite bonus!!

I might suggest we head up there this year - hopefully if it's not quite as scorchio on the Wednesday we could face a further walk!

We ended up coming in PGB & finding the first available spot for our tent, in Hawkswell which actually was pretty good, but would like to mix it up a bit next year & try somewhere else!

About 9pm on the tuesday night, had a few beers, couple of hours nap, started queueing at PGD by about 4.30/5am (about 300 people ahead of us), were in within thirty minutes

I was camped just over the fence/vehicle road way at the very bottom, over in Park (just up from the Med Tent). The nearest amenities weren in Paines and were bloody marvellous. A long line of sinks all the way up the hedge line, slight trek up to the toilets but there was a decent shop in the middle, the Kelloggs breakfast bar and a reasonably 'short' walk from PGD compared to Park and Pennards.

Quiet? Silent as a mouse!!!

If it wasnt for the total lack of a view (at the bottom) I would consider camping there for the ease of the shorter walk.

LOL we must have been right next to you. (balloon guys were right next to us as well, pitched their tent under their gazebo (?) and all we heard for 6 days straight was

"Pfffssst......hahahaha........Pffffssstt....hahahahah" - one dude there literally never left the camp?!!

We camped up against the chain link fence, then there was a dust road, a hedge, and then behind the hedge were the long drops and the lock up.

To be honest, it was a pretty good spot.....accessible for most areas convieniently, and no "wrong tent" shenanigans at all (touch wood)....plus the 5 min walk to the car a definite bonus!!

We've been in that area since 2007 (2007/8/9 in Paines). Was gutted that Paines turned to crew camping this year but found that Dairy met all the same criteria except that this part of the site is becoming a worse and worse kept secret!

It is reasonably flat so you don't end up sliding to the bottom of your tent whilst you sleep. Yet, in terms of flooding - we still had grass all around our tent right through 2007 - that may have been partially because the field was so underused that year - but it definitely didn't get boggy like other areas of the site can do.

The first couple of years we had loads of space, but this year turned into a proper tangle with a stewards telling people to camp in the fire lane from about 5am on Thursday morning!

It is quietish with a nice vibe, short walk to Other Stage and The Park, and close to the railway line to find your way to nearly everywhere else.

And west car parking is really handy - we headed back to the car for stuff several times over the weekend with no hassle atall.

I've totally blown it now - it'll be a nightmare this year! Getting crowded is starting to be it's main issue.

What was it like Thursday morning in terms of space?

Made my mind not to bother with the queuing again and wanted to roll up on the Thursday and camp somewhere a little quieter (like Paines), however I did not anticipate having 6 of my friends with me next year so will need a bigger space than I originally planned.

What are the chances of getting a space for 4 tents around midday Thursday in Paines?
