I'm not sure they were "casuals" on facebook. Weren't they people who had registered, joined a facebook Glastonbury group, and were accessing that group in desperation saying "Help! I can't get an order screen up!"

Doesn't stop the tout from selling it though. Surely any enterprising tout could find non descript photos to register with and sell these on. Fumps is right, allowing a single person to purchase so many tickets will surely encourage touts to try their luck.

In our case it was nearly all people who are friends on Facebook through being friends through this site and having been to a huge amount of festivals, meets and nights out in general together over a number of years, though one non efest friend (but a very good friend nonetheless) did help an e fester get his tickets.

just so it's clear what I'm on about, when I said casuals I meant the sorts who'd registered only because they could, and happened to be in front of a computer on t-day so thought they'd see if they could get them, and then after a few refreshes gave up.... or perhaps got lucky and got tickets.

The sorts who aren't really that bothered if they're there or not. I've nothing against them as such, but I'd rather that those with a bit more desire to be there got a better chance at getting tickets somehow - and selling over a longer time defo increases the chances for the more dedicated at trying to buy.

I reckon 8 is about right - lots of people go in biggish groups, and four often wouldn't be enough for one family .... do they leave one of their kids home alone? :P

I've been told that I'll be given the numbers for how many bought 8 tickets in one go, once they've got them together. However, the guy who runs the ticketing for Glasto indicated that it's likely to be a tiny proportion, if things have been the same as in previous years. So it doesn't appear that 8 per transaction is a big issue in the scheme of things.

We were all trying our dammed hardest - and although I'm sure many of us would have gladly helped others, its the fact that those better connected through social networking systems were able to take what I feel was an unfair advantage over those who are not due to the way that the system was designed. If you don't feel you have to justify yourself - and I don't believe that you do as the fault lies with the system - then why post about it?

You don't get it do you - its not what was done that I believe was unfair - it was that it could be done. I begrudge no-one for getting tickets via such groups - as you intimate, we'd all probably have done it if given half a chance and considering what sort of tickets were at stake. The fault lies with the system. All registered people have a right to an equal chance of getting their tickets on the system - not just those with extensive lists of 'friends' who can monopolise this aspect of the system design to get 100's of tickets through one session while others are struggling to get in just to get a handful.

That is a good point, and that particlar scenario would have been less fair for someone in that position. I guess they would have to come up with some arrangement for cover. But we are not talking about situations as specific as this - more a generalised exploitation of a particular route to acquire more tickets for those who may already be in a position to be able to access the system freely by queuing for a booking session along with everyone else.

But even if everyone who had access on sunday morning had equal access, why is that system fair to anyone working shifts who had no access to a computer or telephone? Why should an intensive care nurse be put at a disadvantage because he or she has to look after some very sick people on the day tickets are sold? I do get it, my point is that for every system you come up with to make getting tickets fairer, I'll give you a reason why it's still unfair.

Dont change the amount you can buy per transaction, change the distribution.....that would weed out casuals/'I'm not that bothereds'....

Spread the sales over a week, at 20,000 tickets per day.

Each day, those that REALLY REALLY want to be there will hammer away at F5 until they are successful....I want to be there that much that I'm willing to give up a week if I have to sat at a PC screen to get a ticket

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
