This just goes to show why i don't take any notice of "future forecasts" as they are complete tosh! One minute we're slapping factor 50 on, the next day we're slapping mud packs on!

I will be packing for the week based on the weather forecast as at 12pm on 21st June and not a day earlier as even then they can get it wrong

It's quite funny how we've gone from amazing weather reports this morning to it being flipped upside down to showers n rain this afternoon.

Just goes to show that it is pretty much guess work from this far out and for that reason we should only take notice of good forecasts!

Countryfile on the 19th of June is the big one.

I don't understand how everyone was moaning about the heat last year (In that weather man he say scorchio thread), those people have obviously never suffered a muddy year at Glastonbury.

Last year was fine, yes hot, but as long as you put sun cream and a hat on it was fine!

None of these 'bad' forecasts are actually that 'bad'. Last two years have been an emotional rolercoaster on here but I see it going the same way. All will be well!

I've been to every muddy Glastonbury of the last 15 years. 2010's heat was definitely preferable to 2007's miserable rain and mud. But the heat was still horrible compared to the moderate weather of 2009.

You have to appreciate that people have different tolerances. Some of us feel the cold. Some of us feel the heat. I see people *running* in long sleeves and tracksuit trousers on sunny days. That looks like hell to me. I run in shorts and short sleeves even when there's ice on the ground (if I run at all :P ).

Sun cream stops sunburn, but it does nothing for my discomfort (in fact it makes a sticky nasty mixture of sweat and sun cream). A hat is better than nothing, but I still get a hot head -- keep having to take it off to fan some breeze on the top of my head.

It was OK in the shade -- but there was precious little shade to be had, since people would cram into every patch of shade. Finding shade within sight of a major stage was more or less impossible.

Seeking shade in marquees didn't work very well either, since they were turned into humid airless steam ovens; at least outside your sweat had a chance of evaporating.

Obviously, I would prefer no rain. But I really, really, don't want it as hot as last year. I just want to be comfortable. Is that too much to ask?

2009 was pretty much perfect - the small amount of rain and mud was far less inconvenient, and did less to spoil my festival, than last year's heat.

Anyone who complains about it being too hot last year should take a good hard look at their selfish soul and think about the billions of people who live in parts of this world where 30C + is quite normal and the vast majority of us who welcome such weather with open arms and indeed travel vast distances whenever possible to find it. You represent a tiny minority. You have had more than your share of cool/ damp/ wet Glastonburys in the last two decades. Last year was an extremely rare warm festival, and I mean warm, it wasn't even that hot, in fact it was bloody freezing by about 3am.

It's our turn B)

Keep the faith people. It still says it will be sunny. Yes, there's a chance of r**n, but there's a chance the Pope will appear on stage with Primal Scream, and we know that ain't going to happen.

Positive thoughts, and begone Frenchmen.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
