AS/ A Level Exams

Unfortunately, next year I will be taking my AS levels in June. I have looked at the dates of them, and, to my despair, there is an english language exam on the friday morning of the Glastonbury. It would be finished at 11.30 so, considering I live in Shrewsbury, could be there late afternoon/ early evening.

Is it worth it? Has anyone else been in a similar problem, and, if so, what did they do? I'm grateful that 2012, my real A levels, that it is a fallow year.

After Eavis's announcement that he has booked 'the best acts in the world', I am worried that Prince or the Rolling Stones will headline, and I will miss one of my only chances to catch them live.

I had 2 A-level exams on the friday of glastonbury this year, one morning and one afternoon!! I went down on Wednesday to set up and came back, and to be fair when you have known about the exams for so long you kinda get over the fact that you won't be there for thursday or most of friday!

Did my exams and got to glasto at about 7ish, and had the best f**king night ever!! It's just an amazing way to celebrate finishing, and it went on to be my favourite glasto by a long way!!

As long as you don't daydream about glasto all through your exam the you'll be fine!!

So... go for it!!

Also I'd be careful to check which modules it is, AS exams normally finish earlier than that

My mates saw they had an exam on the friday afternoon, and as we live at the other end of the country they cancelled their tickets

When they got their exam timetables it turned out it was an A2 exam

But even if it is an AS exam, go for it anyway! :D

Well considering we all only have to put a £50 deposit down in October and then spend the next few months saving up for the second part, go for the deposit regardless.

But aren't all the exams easily re-doable these days anyway? You fail/get lower marks than you wanted and just keep retaking until you get the result you want/need?

By the time April comes round you should/will be in a better position to know how well you will be doing with the subject yes?

Ok so I dont fully understand the new fangled way A Levels are done these days (in my day it was 2 solid years of study with a f**k off exam at the end that meant Glasto had to be ditched or arrived late to). OR...choose subjects that you generally had some idea that the exam date was early in June!!! :D NO chance of missing the G!

I have my final A Level on the Thursday of Glastonbury, which isn't quite as bad as the Friday like you but still pretty annoying...I'd definitely say go for it! You'll still have almost three days, and probably won't miss any music and you'll be able to watch all 3 headliners, as long as you can try to focus on your exams on Friday, I know mine on Thursday will be a nightmare with waiting to leave for Glastonbury afterwards!

had to miss glastonbury this year as i had three exams the following week

and in a nutshell i just spent the whole weekend watching it on the red button

i tried to componsate it with a t in the park ticket which was good enough to be honest as long as you dont go expecting glastonbury, but if your only missing half of the friday - bloody go you fool!

I know nothing about modern day exams or how the rules work, however say you was genuinely ill and rang in to explain your illness and the fact you couldn't make the exam what would the outcome be? would they allow you to take it at another time? if so could you not be "genuinely ill" ;)

Do you think any of these people setting the dates of the exams have ever been to or have heard of Glastonbury??? ;)

Go for it!

I had 2 A2 exams on the Thursday and then another exam the day after Glasto and it was fine in the end. Did no revision for the last one as well due to Glasto and ended up with full marks bizarrely (not a recommended idea by the way!). There isn't much that would keep me away from Glastonbury.
