Priority Ticketing

The band have chosen to sign the contract which denies many of their true fans the opportunity to see them.

Who else is there to blame aside from the band?

They're obviously a band who doesn't want you to have a ticket. On that basis, why do you want a ticket to see that band? Would you go to a party where you weren't invited and you knew for certain that the host didn't want you there? ;)

I'm an O2 customer and "Classic GnR" fan, but wouldn't bother with the current GnR as their success was gained with the likes of Slash, Duff, and Izzy. They are promoting themselves as the same band, when they are a fraction of their former self.

Slash, Duff, and Izzy made major contributions to the songwriting of that band, and it shows if you compare Chinese Democracy to their previous works or even Velvet Revolver's.

Although I don't agree with the priority tickets thing, it's also worth noting that gig venues are closing all over the place. Perhaps without the sponsorship of the big firms such as O2 they may well close.

are they? not the places I go to gigs they arent.

the live music scene is more lucrative now than ever (it would appear to me)

the academies nationally seem to be doing ok, and the uni venues always seem popular.

It would appear that is the way many of the bigger venues will go anyway, in the US its all "Verizon Center" and "Staples Center"

I really stopped caring too much a coupla years ago anyway. I prefer smaller gigs. or festies.

Yeah, I think there were problems with the building and the problems got worse when the building next door was knocked down so they either were forced to close it or perhaps just din't see it as being finacially viable to pay for building repairs.

  • 3 months later...

so I see that vodafone will be offering their customers priority tickets for all festival republic festivals (Reading, Leeds, Big Chill, Latitude etc...) on the 1st December, 3 months before they go on general release ... <_<

I suppose it was only a matter of time before priority ticketing infiltrated the festival scene. Still think it stinks and festival republic are money grabbing c*nts, but hey, thats capitalism.
