The Beach Boys 2011

Just read this article on Yahoo News:

Al Jardine has confirmed the original Beach Boys are planning a major reunion to mark the group's 50th anniversary in 2011 - and it will probably be a free extravaganza.

Bandmate Mike Love recently suggested he'd be teaming up with the three original members of the group for shows in 2011 and now Jardine has more details about what could be one of the gigs of next year.

Jardine, who has been pushing for a full Beach Boys reunion for years, tells RollingStone.com the band will reunite for at least one concert.

He says, "It’s a big deal. I don’t know where it will be yet, but it’ll probably be free. Golden Gate Park (in San Francisco) was mentioned, as was the (National) Mall in Washington, D.C. and the north shore of Chicago, by the beach."

But band leader Brian Wilson has yet to confirm his plans for a reunion. His manager, Jean Sievers, says, "Brian has a big new album coming out in August, and that's what he's a hundred per cent focused on."

Jardine, however, has big plans: "I want to see a 100-date anniversary tour. I want to go all around the world... If we're going to rehearse and make this such a wonderful show, we should take it on the road. It's the next logical step."

Brian hates Mike Love. And rightly so. Mike Love is a c**t.

Here he is, pissed up, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame slagging off Macca, Jagger and Springsteen. Dylan got up later to accept an award and said "I just want to thank Mike Love for not mentioning me in his speech."

More on Mike Love:

- His illegitimate daughter (who he never recognised despite it being confirmed she was his), Shawn Love Wilson needed $500,000 for a liver transplant. She tried to contact him several times for help. He never acknowledged her problem. She died in September 2003.

- After Carl Wilsoin died in 2001, Love sued Al Jardine for sole rights to use "The Beach Boys" on tour and also sued him for using "The Beach Boys Family And Friends".

- Hes a wife beater

- Hes a racist Republican

- He said John Lennon wanted to jam with him even though Lennon is quoted as calling him a "jerk".

- One of the reasons Brian didnt release Smile was "because Mike didnt like it". Brian was so fragile at the time he let Mike influence him. Love then went on to sue Brian saying he wrote some of the album and was owed royalties.

- He is hated by everyone in the music industry and generally talks about himself as if hes a total genius.

- Oh, and he refers to himself as "Dr Love".

Just Brian please, Love can f**k off.

Brian Wilson at Glasto 2005 was a HUGE highlight for me... the storm clouds even parted to let through a little sunshine for his set. Absolutely amazing. A full Beach Boys reunion sounds fine to me, perhaps for next years 'legends' slot.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
