Dads... It seems unfair...

Kid wakes up around 7:30 and I leave for the clients site at 7:45.... Giving me 15 mins in the morning...

I get home around 17:00 and kid goes bed around 18:30 / 19:00... Give me a max of two hours... Usually less...

So I get at best a grand total of two hours fifteen mins with my little baby :(

Been working from home since baby was born so I could see more of her but now having to start going to the clients site for the foreseeable future... Seriously depressing me how little I get to see of her...

Very jealous of mummy and it seems to me dads have really shit at the moment.... but when mummy goes back to work we both will be seeing little of her during the week... Which is even worse... But we need to put a roof over her head, food on the table etc...

Its really pissing me off... Just wanted to vent and hopefully some one will ensure me it gets easier :(

Unfortunately, that's just the way it is mate.

I don't see my little lad as often as I'd like.

I get him up at 7, I leave the house at 8. I get home at 6, I put him to bed at 7. So that's 2 hours a day. :( But it's my job to get him up and dressed, and bath time, and bed time so that's a little part of the routine that's for me which is nice.

It just makes the weekends and the small amount of time I have with him during the week all the more special. It's not a new thing though, my dad worked much longer hours when I was little.

Its nice to know its not just me :)

She got up earlier today so had a bit more time... Now she is feeding so I can get ready for work...

If I could afford to I would quite work tomoz but we simply can't with the mortgage commitments etc...

Oh well... I am lucky enough that once things quite down I can start working from home again, I suppose a lot of dads don't have that option :(

Although I appreciate your upset I think you should be thankful you are in a loving relationship and get to see your daughter at all! Far too many dads in the world suffer because some bint thinks that because she's decided she now hates the bloke she once let father her child then that guy is no longer a suitable father to the child :(

Also, at least your missus is spending time with your daughter, and it's not some stranger in a nursery or wherever.

Do you work weekends?

As with most other Dads, I'm in the same boat. I see our little one for at best 2 hours a day during the week, most of the time though i'm lucky to get an hour. When the better half gets a job she'll be in the same boat too, sadly we can pay our mortgage without her going back to work. It is very much a sign of the age we live in but we just make the best of it. I love my weekends all the more now knowing that i'll get to spend 2 days being a Dad. I often cut short my nights out now as i'd rather enjoy the day with Beth than spend a few more hours out and sleep all morning with a hangover.

At the moment, I have to get the lad up, dressed, fed etc because Mrs LW is struggling a bit as she's 32 weeks pregnant.

It means I'm up early every single morning, even at weekends and am constantly rushing around seeing to His Highness's every wish until his bedtime around 7.

But it's not something I'm not prepared to do, and in fact I love it. My weekends are longer as a result (I used to sleep in til 10.30/11 most weekends) and it's quality time with my lad.

Another thing - he's now at an age when he really appreciates me, so I think he also realises that the weekend is daddy time. He's a moody sod on Mondays as he's had 2 full days with me. Which is really lovely.

It's not easy being away from him during the working day but Kat is right - at least I get to see him every day. I'm blessed by that and extremely grateful for it.

While it's little time you spend with her, that time pays off handsomely. :)

I was involved with my kid on a similar basis for the first 5 years of his life. Then not long after his mother and me split up, she had one of those 'moments' () where she thought he was her possession, and I barely saw him for the next 6 years, perhaps spending just 4 hours with him in some of those years. It broke my heart. :(

Things are a little better now with seeing him (tho still a very long way from what anyone with a brain considers reasonable), but our relationship remains brilliant, with those early years having bound us forever. :)

Today I'm getting to take him to a festival for the very first time, and I haven't felt so excited in years. I just know we're going to have the most fantastic time. :D

The time you get to spend with her might be short, but it's priceless. Enjoy. :)

due to work I prob get about 2-3 hours a day with my 2 year old son. I just make sure that the 2-3 hours is as chaotic and loud as possible before he collapses into bed about 8pm. Its better that way so he thinks I'm the "fun" parent who doesnt insist on him sitting to eat his dinner etc and doesnt mind the bathroom being flooded at crazy bath time :D

    • Hezbollah rejected it. Really Israel should get the f**k out, and US and others should support the Lebanese govt in defeating Hezbollah.
