Only to a retard who has zero understanding of the role Southgate has taken on, zero understanding of what the 'elite' is referring to, and zero understanding of the game in general.

Know nothing Neil strikes again.

Now, someone with a a few brain cells and not none would comment on what I'd said and not make up things I've not said. f**king retard.

I made no comment on the role. I made no comment on what 'elite' is referring to. I made no comment on the game in general.

I made a comment on him having a title of 'elite', and the fact that when a person thinks of the elite of football, Southgate would be quite a long way down the list of any person compiling that list (except perhaps Southgate's wife).

Anyone but a retard would have understood that, you f**kinbg retard.

West Ham - the academy of football. A place where the good football is only from kids, and where the supporters have the minds of kids. It seems like that round here, anyway. ;)

There's nothing like the absence of 'sir' to make a moron come out of his shell.:lol:

It's still funny. And true. :)

I haven't been 'praying for it', I've simply been saying it's coming - and even many Utd fans can see that it's far from an unlikely possibility.

a good investment would see at least an 8% return* on that investment each year - something a deal at the mentioned prices is waaaaaay short of.

(* that's at the low end of things - I used to work for a blue chip that sold any of it's businesses that returned less than 15%)

Liverpool were at the top for about the same time. Things fell apart when the managerial continuity was broken - something that will happen at Utd when Fergie leaves (the continuity being broken I mean).

Yep, the money available proportionally to the top clubs nowadays compared to the clubs below them gives them an advantage over how things were in the past, but if we take one of the views people have on Rafa at Liverpool - where he's considered to have spent hugely (tho the net spend wasn't as great as some like to believe) - then money doesn't always save a club, and things can fall apart very quickly. Just look at Chelsea this year for example (I don't really expect them to drop out of the top 4, but I doubt many thought they'd fall as badly as they have this year).

Yup, Chelsea slip a bit and spend 70+ million, just like that to ensure they're continue to be at the top. That is what Utd would be able to do, if for whatever reason there is a stumble on the transition, which is far from guaranteed as you suggest.

They can spend all they like - it guarantees them nothing.

Moronic troll is what you are and as such you shall be treated like one.

says the moronic troll who only posts made up bollocks because he's too stupid to be able to do his trolling based on lies. That's the lowest form of troll.

you know repeating the same phrase about 1000 times in 3 pages makes you look more childish than anyone else, and it becomes boring after a while in all honesty.

fyi im not getting involved in this argument, im just making an observation

It's very childish, I know.

But I've run out of ideas of how otherwise to deal with the more childish arsehole who constantly repeats "retard" along with words he's made up and attributing to me - short of banning the mindless c**t.

You could of course stop inciting him. You know, by not posting yourself or by trying to avoid conflict.

I try and avoid conflict by being clear in what I say.

It's not possible to avoid conflict with a retard who claims I said things that are opposite to what I've said. You should know that, you do it often enough yourself.

you are right mind re the word, there was no need whatsoever to include it bar squeezing it in as you'd used it, I've removed it now so you can argue, I suspect sadly that you still can't though

if you've removed the 'guaranteed', then what I said stands - that I can agree with what you've said. Neither is a guarantee.

But there's a guarantee about this: sooner or later big spending will not have the desired effect. The likes of Real and Shitty have (to a certain extent) shown this as true.

The daft arguments usually begin because some retard claims someone else posts something they haven't

corrected for you.

Now, do show me where I've said that Southgate was only a donkey, that he's totally unsuitable to the role he's got, that he'll definitely be shit at it, or that he was a crap player.

I've said none of these things.

You've claimed I've said them all.

Because you're the f**king retard around here.

Manchester City were firmly in the top 4 last time I looked, Madrid are second having lost 2 games, both are perfect examples of big spending working.

Look at Net spend over the last 5 years or so and I very much suspect Arsenal (and Liverpool slightly) are the only teams out of place

I challenge anyone to have a look back through this thread. There's plenty of sensible and indeed interesting discussion on subjects ranging from individual games, club trends over periods of months, seasons, and years, the development of football in this country and abroad etc etc. There are also some very daft arguments. Over 90% of which, concern one retard individual. The daft arguments usually begin because said retard posts some inane bullshit opinion or *FACT*. He then gets pulled up on it by other posters and shown to be the retard he is. Retard doesn't like this and resorts to childish name calling. After trying reasoned, factual responses, other posters get tired of attempting to educate the retard and resort to the only thing the retard understands - i.e. childish name calling in response.

not when you looked last season they weren't, but that was squarely what their spending for that season was aimed at.

(I'm less certain about the effects on Real, but I do know that big spending in the last year or two hasn't brought them the hoped-for success)

Spending is likely to work, but it won't always work.

    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
    • Yeah Roy's Tune was lovely. Looking forward to the whole thing hopefully going on iPlayer.   It's scattered dates they have this year really, proper tour/s to come next year - suspect a new single will drop in the next couple of months, providing the album is done.
    • Sounds fabulous. Totally fabulous.    These are the moments that are needed for mind and soul.
    • Sounded in really excellent form, loved Roy's Tune and Big Shot making an appearance. They've got their European tour starting on Saturday so imagine we might hear new material.
    • My train of thought indeed.
