The measures in place last night were exactly the same as the ones used for the last Man U Rangers match at Old Trafford a few years before the UEFA cup final. Apart from that, carry on.

Then it might be the case that Rangers fans had a valid claim to those measures being over-the-top on that occasion.

Since then they've trashed Manc due to being poor losers, so the same doesn't apply to last night.

so he's saying they only had one attack like you are is he? he must have been watching a different game then. as opposed to you watching no game. he's an old man remember, like yourself. counting down to his retirement!

I've not said they only had one attack.

I'd have thought the old man here was the one losing his memory like an old man. That's you that is.

Smith basically said that they played the tactics they did last night because of the gulf between the teams, and that playing anti-football was a way to bridge that gulf.

Just because you're unable to recognise the gulf for what it is due to tactics doesn't make you right, it makes you unable to recognise and understand tactics. ;)

you asked me to show you the rangers attacks. so you know they had attacks but you're still asking me to show you them. my 'f**kwit' claim has legs then...

and i have said there is a gulf. but based on the showing last night, someone knowing nothing about football coming in and watching that game would have seen a team at home dominate against a weaker away team. with the weaker away team able to match them. they wouldn't have seen the 'huge gulf' based on that 90 minutes. i'm just talking about those 90 minutes. if you want to watch those 90 minutes, i'll happily discuss this further. but until you do, i'll leave it.

yes, they had attacks - but the best of the bunch was as pathetic as it gets.

The f**kwit is you, for thinking that such a half-arsed attack is worthy of you saying they "still got forward".

Ahhh right, so you're saying that to football morons it was an even game, and because you think it was an even game you're a football moron.

For probably the first time I'm very happy to agree with you. :)

They only real difference between the 2 performances was that Liverpool had Torres up front. Liverpool under Rafa always set up incredibly defensively against the big sides, hoping to catch them on the break, but above all keep a clean sheet. Torres was brilliant that day, and the united defense was dreadful. Replace Torres with Kenny Miller and the result that day would have been rather different.

I don't much disagree, aside from saying that Rafa *always* played "incredibly defensively", both against the big sides and the small ones.

United's defence is always heading towards dreadful - it's one of the most over-rated things in current football. It's not so much different from Arsenal's, tho Arsenal's gets heavily criticised while Utd's gets lauded.

Utd get away with that defence because of their strengths over the rest of the field (including midfielders who know how to defend, something Arsenal is short of [and I guess why they end up getting so slated]), along with the caution teams tend to play with at OT. As gets shown now and then, teams who have a go at Utd do better on average than the general expectation from a team of that level.

Some Rangers fans caused a problem a couple of years back. Which means some Rangers fans going to the game last night aren't allowed to complain about how they were treated, but are allowed to be described as arseholes?

Moron.

It's called reality.

If they act like arseholes then it's far from unreasonable to get treated as arseholes. It's their own doing, no one else's.

Do you tories show a similar sentiment to other groups aside from footie fans who display a massive disregard for the law, or do you say they should be banged up and the key thrown away?:lol:

so because it wasn't threatening, they weren't getting forward? so they shot from 90 yards out did they?

and no, when i saw matched them, i mean in scoreline. and the fact that man utd had no serious threats on goal. much like rangers didn't. the only one of note was gibsons that hit the camera. i can't remember any point where mcgregor was sweating. so in the same vein, man utd can't have got forward cos their attempts were pretty pathetic.

But it's far easier to draw a game than it is to win it.

Teams that go for the win also open themselves up to losing (and sometimes losing heavily). For any manager to open themselves up to that possibility, they've got to be confident in their position as manager and confident that their team will be able to mentally recover from getting whipped, else they're on a hiding to nothing.

(I'd say it was slightly different for Rangers last night cos it was more of a cup match than a league match, tho those factors were still both in play).

You say "man utd had no serious threats on goal", yet I've seen shots from last night that had the possibility of going in, which is far more than Rangers managed; they had nothing which had any possibility of going in.

The fact is that Utd were playing to try and win while Rangers weren't. That is the gulf that has been talked about.

That's not what you're saying though.

You're saying people who don't act like arseholes should be treated like arseholes. Just because some arseholes have behaved like arseholes previously.

Some people in Hampshire sometimes behave like arseholes and rob post offices. Not everyone in Hampshire deserves to be treated like a post office robbing arsehole.

Not everyone in Hampshire associates themselves with armed robbers. Spot the difference? ;)

I get what you're saying, but until such time as the arseholes wear badges so that the two groups can be differentiated, it's a fact of life - no different to anyone heading to a festival being treated as a potential drug dealer and liable to be searched.

Some twat from this board decided to be an asshole and rip people off over some tickets a while back I seem to remember? Are all of us arseholes too as we are associated through efests...?

nope, but I'm not so stupid as to deny that what happened there doesn't reflect back on all of efests, and from that how people (who know of what happened those years ago) now approach tickets on sale here.

Immediately afterwards there was definitely a suspicion being applied to all other ticket offers from users here, and rightly so; it would be a fool who treated it as an irrelevance when sourcing a ticket from a user here. I wouldn't expect anything different.

Agreed. That doesn't make it right though, and shouldn't stop people from complaining without being labelled arseholes...

No, it is right. As a mass they destroyed the trust that had been placed in them, and so as a mass they need to rebuild that trust by being treated in the manner of last night until such time as others have been convinced they don't need to be.

It's not like they were treated as criminals, it's simply that they were treated in a way which gave minimal opportunity to trash Manc again.

    • Yeah f**k knows at this point.   I did a little bit of digging earlier, and it was more 'on the ropes' than categorically not happening, and the reason been that she's asking for all sorts. I think all sorts is more production based stuff rather than the fee. As I keep saying, though, there's a lot of whispers at the moment but very little concrete.
    • Ah they did yes, maybe she asked for a lot more than that. Given for example what harry had at Wembley she could have a big stage that juts right out at BST and get mega money for it for 3 nights. She won't get anywhere near that for Glastonbury
    • They did have a big ramp to the front and sides though. And the phoenix.
    • Somerset live says  Olivia Dean has turned down the chance to headline as she is concentrating on new music next year. Not a very reliable source of course.
    • They didnt move any product things etc for the stones i don't believe who commented recently on how far the crowd is away.
