I would add jaskalianen and hart to the list. I would take away cudicini (havent got a clue how good he is these days), sorenson and gordon. I dont see him as being particularly error prone at all, he makes mistakes but so do all keepers.

saw cudicini make a cracking double (or might have been triple) save in a preseason game in new york. can't understand why he's still an understudy.

and hart is not better than gordon. if we had a team gb, gordon would be in goal!

A day before the season starts , any predictions for the sack race. Im going for hughton because I can see newcastle fans having the most unrealistic expectations of premiership fans. If they arent challenging for europe can see calls for the messiahs shearer and keegan to come back. Other contenders.

Mancini - If city start slow, wealthy owners may panic at missing out next years champions league

Holloway - Can see blackpool having one of the worst ever point totals. He should be immune as they shouldnt even be there but it doesnt work out like that.

Martinez, mcarthy, di matteo - managing perenial relgation candidates so always at risk.

Long shot mcleish - Birmingham cant score, if he start conceding then they could be really screwed.

What's interesting, is although people are arguing over one of two names, it's obvious there's at least 8 widely believed to be better than Schwarzer, and that's just in the English top flight - which begs the question again, why are Arsenal - a team aiming for the title, interested in him?

Wenger really is short sighted when it comes to keepers.

I still havent got my head around these new rules. Looking at the list arsenal, chelsea and liverpool are all have less than 8 senior home grown players. Am I right in thinking that they can still make the 8 up by naming u21 players in the squad, even though in theory the u21 players dont need to be named in a 25 man squad?

They just won't fill the full 25 man squad as such, there's no point in naming the under 21 players. Arsenals case is somewhat different to Liverpool and Chelsea though. An awful lot of the Arsenal team proper are under 21 so it distorts things a bit, they don't have any worries regarding the new rules.

Anyway at Villa Park today, it is going to be odd without a manager, potentially James Milner playing and what have you. Havent commented on MON going basically as Lucky Salt said it all. Excited by new season though.

    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
    • Yeah Roy's Tune was lovely. Looking forward to the whole thing hopefully going on iPlayer.   It's scattered dates they have this year really, proper tour/s to come next year - suspect a new single will drop in the next couple of months, providing the album is done.
    • Sounds fabulous. Totally fabulous.    These are the moments that are needed for mind and soul.
    • Sounded in really excellent form, loved Roy's Tune and Big Shot making an appearance. They've got their European tour starting on Saturday so imagine we might hear new material.
    • My train of thought indeed.
