I'm using a Sony ericsson W995 and the writing is in columns and hard to read. I'm pretty sure on Android phones, iPhones etc it's probably fine.

Just wondering what the new format will change if anything. :)

I'm pretty sure that it's not pretty on iPhones - yet another thing (their browser implementation) they've done worse on that phone than is the case for other phones.

Anyway, the changed format - which I'd hoped would be live by now but isn't - will address the issue you're having, to some extent if not perfectly.

On top of that there'll be a mobile skin at some point soon - there's issues with it currently which I'm trying to get sorted, but which is needing support from the software makers and they're not acting as fast as I'd like them to be doing.

A tweak has been made this morning which should help speed the server up a little, and another tweak that will speed things up still further will be activated very shortly. However, the current speed issue is more to do with the number of website visitors at the moment than the forums upgrade.

This is how terrible it looks on Safari.

It would look less terrible if full-screen - the skin (including the amended one coming soon) is designed to be used with enough space for it.

Anyway, the amended skin is just about ready, and will be installed in the next few hours. This is get rid of many of the skin related issues, including at least some of what you're suffering from.

this second tweak has now been activated, and appears to be making a visible difference (tho it's hard to be 100% sure, as he difference might be due to people clicking less or clicking on less intensive things at this moment).

Hey Neil, javascript errors back last night; 16 per page.

Don't seem to get them during the day, just evenings.

Are you using the same computer and browser in the evenings to what you use in the daytimes?

I'm trying to work out why they happen sometimes and not others.

Yeah, same computer. Windows 7 64 bit, either IE8 or Mozilla 3.6.3. I use both really, but would guess was probably using IE last night. Java updated reasonably recently; 6 Update 20 (1.6.0_20-b02).

Was just evening last night and the night before. During the day was fine.

The on-screen error msg's only happen with IE. So I need to know if the sometimes is due to you switching browsers?

(FYI: Java is nothing to do with Javascript - they're completely different and separate things with no relationship between them, outside of the similar names).

People moaning about JavaScript errors is one thing. Ungrateful urchins moaning about the layout of something they don't pay for is of course something else. Especially when what they are moaning about actually means they don't have to pay for it.

I gave you some reputation for that post :P

Agree 100% with it, if they ain't happy they should piss off to other forums

Yeah noticed too and posted in the issues thread in website wishlist bit.

Though the forum does seem more aligned to the left of the page which has probably caused this and now Neil will be tearing his hair out as this is probably the modified skin he was about to install :(

Ive had no errors using multiple computers. Also keep checking across multiple browsers as I use different ones at work to check my own code. That said huge improvement in the layout today with the rejigging of the ads to the right.

What about those that pay for it through the purchase of merchandise and subscriptions?

[/Devil's advocate]

Well, only one person has taken up the ad-free subscription since things changed, so that's not really in the running.

And the purchasing of merchandise this year has been very minimal, and the profit for efests from them anyway is almost non-existent.

So play devil's advocate all you like, but it's near enough irrelevant. ;)

are ads meant to be popping up inbetween posts

Yep. The ads are needed so that these forums pay for themselves.

I've listened to the moans about those ads being on the right for the last week, and concluded that how things are now is a better solution.

I hope that people will agree. :)

there's still the leftness effecting people's PM, friend icons etc.

eh? Are you meaning the icons in a posters profile next to their posts intruding into the post?

Or what are you meaning? Can you please explain in detail?

It would help if you also told me what browser and version you're using, and on what operating system & version.

    • I got in for £11.25 in the end, which was absolutely ridiculously good value, and made the queues and overselling of the venue much more tolerable! Sniping in on other people’s unwanted tickets on the day of an event might become my new hobby I think 🥳
    • Ann and Nancy Wilson are planning a final world tour for HEART starting next year. They were never at Glastonbury. They should do it.
    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
