Too many people are having a go at the line up this year (as there are every year) but someone made a very good point the other day about totting up what you see at Glasto and giving it a value. I'll do it with bands but there's other things I'd pay to do too (comedy, going to the clubby bits, cinemas, time in the sun, seeing random things etc).

Anyway, all you need to do is find 10-15 acts on the lineup that you'd pay a 10-15 quid to see - maybe more! It's surely very easy to see that you get a bloody good deal for the cash. For example I'd pay for:

Local Natives - £10

Bombay Bicycle Club - £10

Muse - £30

Gorillaz - £30

Florence - £10

Laura Marling - £15

Stevie Wonder - £20

Delphic - £10

The National - £15

Broken Bells - £10

Blood Red Shoes - £10

Courteeners - £10

Broken Social Scene - £10

Not to mention 4 Lions, Avatar, Toy Story, Iron Man 2 and No Distance Left to Run on the cinema and 4 nights of late night fun which in a town would cost at least a fiver just for entry.

In short, please just wind your necks in and enjoy the ride. Don't come talking or camping next to me if you're just going to moan!

It's an effing bargain for what you get. Yeah, it's a lot of money, but when you add up everything you experience over the weekend, factor in a weeks camping holiday and spending quality time having fun with great people, then it's worth every penny.

This is part of the reason why most the time I watch the main stage headliner of a festival. I know it's the bad way to think, but the main stage headliners cost the most so give the biggest bang for buck (as long as you don't hate them of course). One way I'll break out of my bad habits and scout out the smaller stage headliners.

Very true, 5 nights camping in that neck of the woods (or any neck of the woods really) would cost you at least £60 if not more. Makes more and more sense the more you look at it.

Having paid £65 to see Stevie last year and £30+ for Muse this year, I'm looking at a bargain of epic proportions with all the bands that I want to see!

Its the way Ive always looked at the festivals ive gone to. They are great value for the money. A couple of years ago I went to Leeds the year Rage and Metallica headlined and considering the number of bands I saw that weekend it worked out my ticket cost £11 per band I saw that weekend.

Thats value for money.

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
