Gosh, Preter & the Libs do seem to bring out some um forthright opinions. All the OP did was pass on some info of interest to people who might want to see them. If someone made a post of that type about a band I didn't like, I wouldn't wade in describing bandmembers as 'twats', 'bellends etc'. Seems a bit rude. Anyway, thanks for the heads up re the dates of the forum gigs and fingers crossed re something @ Glastonbury (I'll be at leftfield for a lot of the time anyway as it is one of my favourite areas).

getting a record contract, shagging supermodels, taking loads of drugs.

if you ask me that's called living the rock and roll dream. makes me laugh my head off when people start demanding he be jailed for drug taking on a glastonbury forum. Do you want 90 percent of glastonbury goers to be jailed too? Bigger police presence would be nice right to catch all those nasty druggies huh.

I've never understood the pete doherty hate. his chaotic lifestyle appeals to me much more than the likes of chris martin or that ballsack from keane etc.

Im certain he couldnt give a shiney shite what a load of nerds on a messageboard with their office jobs think about him anyway

I think there is a difference between getting a contract, partying a lot, taking some drugs and living the rock & roll dream and being so addicted that you look like a walking corpse, lose all your judgement and ability, split the band up, spend time in jail and flaunt your bail. The first is a rock star, the second is a pathetic loser IMO.

there were Libs @ Glasto rumours flying around the music biz last week.

While it's quite possible that Pete will get on stage with Carl, I don't think Carl is so daft to mess up the only reason he's doing the reunion - money - by doing a full Libs thing.

do you know if a special guest slot would be allowed?

As The Libs?

I've been told that the contract The Libs have with R/L allows them to play one non-UK festival.

So if they played Glasto, that would appear to void their R/L contract - or at least have consequences back on the terms of that contract, and those consequences would most likely be financial.

Word I've heard (can't verify it's correct, but there's good reasons to think it is) is that Carl only agreed to do it because of the money on offer. Why would he then risk lessening that money?

I too have it on good authority about the Forum gigs although know nothing about Glasto.

I couldn't give to hoots to the haters... when I first got into the Libertines it was an amazing period of my life that I will always remember. Anyone that thinks he is a c&nt (and he definately has been) have clearly been influenced by the press before the music..... Thankfully for me it was the other way around.

Bring on the Reunion, which could be amazing or could be a car crash - either way, I can't wait to hear my favourite band play the songs I love just one more time

I was influenced by the music only - and think him a c**t just from that. He's a c**t for thinking that people should pay to watch him not know the words and not know the tune.

At the time, I didn't really get the Libertines.

I'm mean they were the zeitgesit and everything, so I get why they were popular. I guess it didn't fall into place for me - I thought bands like forward russia and the Futureheads were doing far more interesting things and should've been top of people's agenda. Such is life.

However, Pete's a Super Hoop, so not matter what he does, I find it hard to dislike him too much.

YOU RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRs

People resort back to the druggie argument too often - would you want Marc Bolan, Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon to be serving time if they were alive today for taking drugs? People take drugs, that's a fact. The Libs took drugs and made amazing music, as did the aforementioned druggie musicians. They also influenced a whole generation of kids like me to pick up guitars and start bands, just when guitar based music was starting to die a death after the decline of Britpop and bands like Oasis and Blur.

I've spent £82 on a day ticket to Reading Festival just to see these guys, and I absolutely cannot wait. It's going to be a monumentous moment when they play that first chord, and probably one that i'll treasure forever. I just wish more people could look past the media's portrayal and listen to the poetry, sadness and euphoria in the music.

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
