Candi Staton

At my first Glastonbury I was luck to stumble upon Candi Staton playing JazzWorld on a blistering hot Friday afternoon. She was immense, great personality, cracking voice and some belting tunes.

I suggest that those having a moan at the lineup have a pop over to the Park when she's playing and get yo' disco down!!

"Glastonbury Festival organisers have announced that Rolf Harris will open the Pyramid Stage on Friday, June 26, with Tinchy Stryder doing the same on Saturday and Yeovil Town Band following suit on Sunday, June 28.

Rolf whom we bumped into at Glasto last year recently celebrated his eightieth birthday and returns for his sixth Festival appearance, whilst Tinchy makes his Pyramid debut, having previously performed at the Dance Village. Yeovil Town Band appear for the first time since 2005.

Candi Staton, Avi Buffalo and Tony Allen have also been added to the just announced Park Stage, along with the 20-piece steel band Steel Harmony."

I can confirm that I saw this too, so it must have been removed. Probably released by accident, I hope so. Superb last time, Florence fans please note that this is how to sing.

Hearing Candi is playing has made my day, she was great the other year, brought a tear to my eye singing Young Hearts, a welcome return.

More Soul, Funk & Disco please, can't we dig out the Salsoul Orchestra for one last outing?

    • 90,000 on a single for day or over the weekend?   if it was for the whole weekend that’s disastrous   Given camping didn’t sell out unless they in effect transferred a lot of camping captivity to Chappell Roan day tickets 90,000 is absolute capacity there I think, so it would be hard to believe   i think it’s from the year before but the TPD tv footage when the killers are headlining makes it look like it’s at best half full
    • A part of me thinks weirdly they might hold off on Chaka/Robbie until they have a year where nobody else who fits the bill is available. This slot takes a very specific set of criteria, and I can't imagine they're flushed with options who are on tour and would take the smaller payday every year. Both Chaka and Robbie have expressed interest in doing it, so they're bankers for a year where fewer options are available. Which may well be 2027.
    • Chaka and Robbie got to have decent chances due to previous reports
    • Chaka is a west holts act all day long and yes please (as part of my vaguely purple day that I am still trying to make happen).   Teatime? Bryan Adams.
