Correct. So the question is, why isn't Joe Cole watching from his armchair at home? I would have taken Johnson and Walcott before Joe Cole. Not because they are consistent or experienced, but both would have made much more sense in terms of Capellos ethos or supposed ethos.

France v South Africa, lots of chat about France's troubles? Whats the team news for South Africa? No, lets look at Townsend's (Ireland 71 caps) wild guess at Capello's team for tomorrow.

BBC World Cup coverage; Preview, game, analysis, a PATRONISING documentary piece about School kids watching the game projected onto a dirty bedsheet/Soweto/Apartheid/North Korea 1966, 2 minutes of England, funny bit end.

ITV World Cup coverage; Preview, adverts, england, adverts, players come out, adverts, first half, adverts, 5 mins of analysis mentioning England at any point, second half, adverts, 5 mins of analysis, 10 minutes of talking about England, James Corden being the c**t he is for half an hour.

Anyway...

I think S.Africa have got a decent chance this afternoon, so hopefully Uruguay-Mexico isn't a convenient draw.

So .... was France today what England will be like tomorrow?

I very much hope that England bang in an early goal, cos their nerves will grow if they don't.

It's either gonna be another dismal performance, or they'll fire on all cylinders. Let's hope it's the latter.

The trouble is if england get either ghana or serbia the poor perfromances will be forgotten and the arrognace and complacency fueled by the media who think england should only lose to the likes of brazil, germany, aregentina etc will return. I think serbia in particular are a very good side and both would fancy their chances of knocking england out.

milner played well, they'll be getting a flight home soon though - don't fancy them against either of ghana / germany or serbia and if they did get through that - argies will rip the english defence to shreds in the quarters (that's if the argies beat mexico who look alright)

f**kin rhubarb marrer... this will have given us a massive boost.. if nowt else--we are difficult to beat... I`d take any of the 3 from tonights games.

The Diegos might be another matter... but what fun that would be wipin the f**kin smile off the Fat,druggy, twenty ring wearing Marrer-Cheato.

As usual the media goes ott when england win, just as they do when they lose. I heard someone on the radio talk about milner looking world class today. England are playing a country who would probably be in the championship, so a bit of perspective needed. Im glad USA go through as I think they will be more competitive in the last 16. Think its a bit of a blow that late usa goal as I think it will end up a harder route.

WHo do people think would be the best team for england, in the next round. I think germany would suit englands style of play more, however englands record in the world cup against the big nations is abysmal. Against serbia, england could end up with little of the ball. If ENgland scored first, serbia could implode, however serbia score first and they could spend a lot of time chasing shadows. Ghana on paper seem the easiest but are unpredictbale and in their home continent. I have a feeling whoever england play they will get a narrow win. It just seems fate for england to play the argies. The media would go into overdrive with the chance to avenge the hand of god.

    • It's even less funny when in real life too...   Liddle met Rachel Royce and the couple soon became romantically involved.[84] In January 2004 the couple married at a ceremony in Malaysia. They had been living in Heytesbury, Wiltshire, and had two sons together. Six months later, Liddle moved in with Alicia Monckton, a 22-year-old receptionist at The Spectator. It transpired that he had cut short his honeymoon with Royce so that he could be with Monckton. Following their divorce, Liddle and Royce exchanged attacks in the media. Liddle called her a "total slut and slattern"

    • he was a provocateur
    • He was also arrested for allegedly punching his pregnant girlfriend.   Such a charmer.
    • George Borg - now he was a character. Both terrifying and endearing, often in the space of 5 minutes. Entertaining times back then!
