When my old flatmate moved up to Wellington she lived with Tony Lochhead (no 3 i think) and his girlfriend. The so called 'posh and becks' of NZ football.(she was a model and former Miss NZ). The glamorous world of New Zealand professional football. Had to take a lodger to cover the mortgage.

The thing is with new zealand they are pretty much guaranteed a play off against an average asian side to reach every future world cup. Nearly every country in the world would love that. It doesnt seem fair to me that australia can just decide they fancy a different qualification route more and move continents. I think the asian and oceana groups should be combined to elimainate new zelaands unfair advantage.

Maybe they should combine the groups but Australia moved from a gr0up with no direct qualication to one that does. Im not sure why NZ got an asian play off when austrlia had to always play off against the fifth? south american team which always seemd odd

ahhhhh .... the sort of route that Wales had when they qualified for their only WC in 1958.

it hasnt been the most inspiring game ive ever seen so far.

the new zealand front line is led by rory fallon, whos had a less than glittering career in the lower leagues and averages a goal every 5 games

Australia left Oceania as there are no other professional leagues in it

the A league is improving and can take part in the asian champions league

youd have to think China will become stronger at football at some point

Edit: Just checked chart, if equally if the favourites top their group, then coming top would mean probably avoiding Spain/Argentina/Germany/Italy (Portugal/Ivory Coast) until the final. Still probable France/Brazil/Holland. Would be preferable to finish top. If we face Germany, then so be it.
