If this forum was all I knew about Glastonbury there is no way I would buy a ticket. Don't get me wrong, the majority of the people on here are quite nice but people seem to really enjoy taking the piss out of/laughing at/putting down people for doing things they enjoy and listening to music they like.

You're making people feel bad for enjoying what they enjoy. True, they may just be listening to Lady GaGa because it's on repeat on Radio1 but being negative about it is NOT they way to go about things. Maybe instead you could try to suggest other music they may like or even just be happy that they're happy.

I don't mean to say everyone should be overly nice but there's no need to put someone down for the type of music they choose to listen to... Unless it's scouting for girls, then you can f**k right off... (Yes, I'm joking.)

While I agree that the "that band is shit" comments can get more than a little wearing, I don't see what the big deal is.

Are people really so unsure of themselves and their likes that such things bother them? :P

Surely if someone likes a band they like that band, and what others say is of just about no interest to them. Outside of that, surely they must be sheep?

People need to learn to be happy with their own thoughts and ideas, and then this issue simply vanishes.

I somewhat agree, most of the time it seems like friendly banter, but now and again and I have noticed it more lately people(Russy) are getting quite personal and stupid with it, and about other festivals. It could really do with being toned down a tad, though it dosn't really matter what others think as long your secure in who you like. Feel free to defend back.

Loadsa regulars on this forum love music. Think youre being well harsh!

Take following few examples:

-> Ivan

Single-handedly keeping the David Coverdale poster industry in shoe leather.

-> Mickey Pearce

Pissed that contemporary musicians from his day (Skip James etc) arent round no-more.

-> Bernhard Langdale

Desperately trying to get Bette Midler to play a private show for him in the Tiny Tea Tent this year.

-> Nalinho

Aint interested in anything other than "3 chords and the fu*king truth." but from time to time he cracks. Example being Sir Cliff.

-> T Blair

Coolest cat on efests. Loves pretty much everything class except ironic-years U2.

-> Teva

2nd coolest cat on efests. LOVES journey.

-> Weather beaten aul crusties like Neil, Sif and Scottie

Show mega love for bands on here from time to time. Rarely, granted. But its happened!!

-> Me ilovelanegan and Steve P

Will show up for anything Lanegan related. (This is more obvious for one of us that the others. Clearly)

The place is like a Turkish Bazaar at times though when the Radiohead fans are in. Reeks.

A few years ago I'd liken this forum to a field at Glasto; lots of varied people floating through exchanging info and stories. Nowadays it's more like the back of a school bus with the same crowd of eejits shouting over everyone else. So you need a thicker skin and a good bullshit detector.

That said, if you don't like that fact, then don't hang around in here. Personally I find it quite entertaining in a blokey sort of way. :P

edit - my second paragraph reads back quite harsh on reflection, when it wasn't meant to. Oh, the joys of the interweb.

Some people are far too sensitive if you ask me! This is an internet forum, who gives a f*ck if somebody who the chances are you will never meet criticizes you or your tastes?!

I certainly don't! Grow some friggin balls!

    • This. I always read in awe the hatred toward the festival and Gerendai.  I see no chance of it being cancelled, except if something worse happens, like the whole electric grid collapses or something. But that’s not really a case. Worst case scenario is that the whole thing will be ran by diesel generators for the sake of the environment.
    • they are shutting down the nuclear power plant until Friday ; sziget starts 3 days later plus, they said they will have to import energy.    So I see no point in cancelling an event that will make them lose money
    • Finally a sensible suggestion for the legends slot
    • Definitely up for this next year. Would rule Megadeth out for Download though
    • My fellow Hungarians always find a reason why Sziget should be cancelled every single years Now it’s at least a bit valid but I would say it’s highly unlikely.
