Cool and Uncool is twaddle. There's music you like and music you don't like - stuff what anyone else thinks.

There are things in our youth we may now wonder about but, good or bad, they helped set us on our musical journeys to where we are now. If you are still deep in territory that others may consider uncool, so what? As long as you enjoy it.

There's a wonderful quote from Sir Thomas Beecham, a great classical music conductor:

"In this life, try everything once, except incest and morris dancing, incest is illegal, and morris dancing should be!"

Apologies to any keen Morris Dancers.

I'm currently temping in a local kitchen and we have Heart radio on. The chef has been mightily impressed by my very wide knowledge of music years in the Time Tunnel part of the show (guess the year from the music selection) and the way I am able to name very obscure pop bands from the 80s and early 90s :P

(I blame it on sitting by my radio/tapedeck hitting record without allowing Bruno Brookes or Kid Jensen to speak during/over the Top 40 Charts on a Sunday afternoon from the age of 7 or 8 onwards...oh and my plethora of Now albums dating back to...NUMBER 3...oh yeah daddio! I think the last one I owned was Now 14 though, I knew when it was time to stop).
