Why Pennards?

I've never camped the other side of the railway line, in 1987 I camped in Kings Meadow, where the Stone Circle is now.

I tend to spend most of my festival, especially later on, when it matter how far away home is, around & about the Greenfields/Stone Circle or Park kind of area. Pennards is perfectly placed for an easy bimble home from there. That's why I camp there.

camped in the big ground last year and that was rather cramped for space. I'm considering moving to pennards but am concered that'll be worse, hows park home ground for space? and is it liable to flood? it looks like a great location as I didn't to go to the park at all last year and is well placed for the other stage and dance village and isn't to far for the peel. I'm not really arsed about the pyramid I think I saw 2 acts at the pyramid last year.

Yeah, being so close to the Bimble Inn was BRILLIANT in 08. We were just beneath the main entrance to The Park, and the Bimble Inn was just by the entrance to the right so it was very handy indeed. Was it in the same place last year? I do love the Bimble Inn.

It was a great campsite actually, though we got hit by the tent thieves (but I'd wager most fields did )

How packed it the pennards on a Wenesday, early afternoon? Does it get busy quickly?

The Bimble Inn was moved slightly up tonto the park but it was still there.

We stumbled across it in 08 but didn't have a clue where it was in 09, but found it again on the saturday night.

Great place for a late night off your head dance!!

We got to Pennards at about 5:45pm on Weds last year and it was already rammed. That said I think this year was an exceptional Wednesday turnout by all accounts.

We've always camped in Big Ground. Good views over the site, flush toilets, little risk of flooding. This year for the first time we'll be in Campervan West though we'll probably put up a little 'day tent' in Big Ground to meet up with our mates,

I love the Big Ground - have always camped there or just down on Kidney Mead. I've actually never used the flushing loos up the hill, and I rarely see a band on the Pyramid, but I love it there. The important things for the Big Ground for me are the floodlessness (and mudlessness, as it's hilly), the proximity to the place that does breakfast near the Kidz Field (Street Sub Aqua Club???), the proximity to the Red Flag for a mid-morning PROPER beer and the proximity to the pedestrian gate I enter and leave through. It IS a long walk back from the Bimble Inn at 3am, I admit, but it's home now, and I quite like walking through the site in the night - especially if (as happened last year and the year before) Square Pie are just closing and are selling off hot pie and mash for bargain prices!!

I have camped in Big Ground for the past two years, a really good spot, flushing porcelain toilets, cider bus, it is nice to sit outside your tent and hear the acts on the Pyramid stage.

That said this year I will be in Pennards very possibly at CT, at the end of th day dont spend that much time around the pyramid area, and the walk all the way back from the stone circle every night is totally unnecessary, I will miss the cider bus, although Pennards is closer to the Brothers bar, their cider is not a patch on Burrow Hill cider. Pennards also close to the Park.

Ahh but I get plenty of exercise during the normal course of the day at Glasto; it's the night time, when you're cold & tired after a long bimble, it's nice to know the tent is very close by. Also great to nip back and get extra alcohol or another jumper if it's starting to freeze, etc.

That's where we were last year and I liked it. Really friendly neighbours and no trouble with tent raids where we were. Bit quiet compared to some places but that didn;t boher me.

We'll be getting there at 7am on Wednesday so should be alright and not full. We will be coming in through the Blue gate so it'll be nearest. I camped somewhere near the Park last year and the trek back at the end half killed me!

Anyone camped there before and whats it like? Would appreciate some views....cheers.
