Are they ringing you up and saying they might (but don't really) have a job for you but being incredibly vague about it, then quizzing you over what's the job market like for you?

No, they actually got me an interview, then said I had been invited along for an orientation session so the job offer was virtually a formality. This turned out to be a second interview which I was totally unprepared for. They've now told me I havent been offered a job, but may be offered one next week
