I was under the impression that the reason why a lot of the schools close is because of health and safety - in case a small child falls and their parents sue. Same reason why a lot of the football matches get postponed, despite having a perfectly playable pitch, certainly up here.

Half the c**ts in here are off today. I know some live close but are "snowed in". I skidded into work on the motorway and steep roads. Not insured either I just realised. Better get that sorted!

The heavy snow is back in G66!

Wasn't too bad yesterday, we had 9" as of last night.

I've just cleared all that off the car as we are waiting on a new battery being delivered for it (was meant to come yesterday but delayed due to snow!) and now it has come on really heavy again and this is the forecast for next 24 hours

We've prob got 3/4 inches here in Derby - thought i'd get called into work what with people not being able to get in/schools being off but apparently we shut at 11.30 as the road to work is a death trap (we're at the bottom of an industrial estate, down a steep hill with a sharp bend!)

Well I'm still in Edinburgh, good times. My flight has been cancelled and transferred 5 times now. I'm on the 15.20 tomorrow, but if the forecast is correct, it could be another day of closure at Edinburgh Airport. I'm not particularly bitter about it, I'm missing work and it will cost me annual leave/many long days too make up, but it's all pretty funny innit. And I do sympathise with the airport staff, it just doesn't stop snowing long enough for them to do anything about it!

Forecast looks a bit more optimistic Friday, so I should get a flight then. I actually have a feeling it won't snow that much tonight/tomorrow, so maybe I will be home in 24 hours...

Forecast has improved over the last few hours, too.
