Oh, and here's something that might interest Orbital fans : potentially FOUR new songs to play live!

"We hadn’t started writing at that point, so I don’t like to say it unless it’s happening, but by the time I’m talking to you [now], we’re working on our fourth track. It’s very dancey at the moment, it’s great, we’ve approached this with an agenda which I love. I love it when you don’t have a blank canvas, I love it when your canvas is angled towards a certain subject so when you go to work, you say ‘I’ve got this certain job to do’. And the job at the moment is filling in what we want to do to the live set and how we want to change it. So we’re writing tracks that are made to work in a live environment, we hope – that’s our aim anyway. So they’re quite big and bulky and anthemic."

Perhaps this will give us some peace from Mr Not-Actually-Very Laid Back.

I doubt it though - the new tracks are unlikely to be delivered in a box marked '1992 Time Capsule'.

trolling??? :P i just expressed my opinion that they've wrote nothing new in years, their musical high point was nearly seventeen years ago, the rest of their albums are patchy and uninspiring to say the least, their set lists have become tired, boring and rely heavily on work from the first two albums, that they have a cheek calling glasto commercial when they'll play every commercial festival going if they're asked and that there are plenty of bands more deserving of a slot on the big stages, all comments i stand by. you may not agree but thats my opinion and by the looks of it even the die hard fans tend to agree and are frustrated at the lack of new material and sameyness of their sets and the best you can do to reassure them is to say there are yet more reworkings of old tracks on the way and 'possibly' some new stuff... how very creative of them, hardly does much to dispel the accusations of living off past glories now does it! didnt they say round the time of the split that the whole orbital thing had run its course anyway? i have to agree with them on that one but i dont know what they thought had changed during their time off and made them think a comeback without any new material was neccessary... o wait was it the cash maybe? and yes i'd say radiohead fit into the category of real music, a band that work on new tracks, release albums of entirely new material and try new things (some more successful than others but hey at least they try), perhaps orbital should take notice and try doing the same before theres only obsessives like you left at the shows, you're obviously orbitals version of jens wildman! :P tbh out of all the times i've seen them live they've really only impressed me twice, sugarsweet in belfast 90/91? and glasto 94 so excuse me for loosing interest but i think i've gave them more than enough chances in the past fifteen years. if they ever release anything new that isn't just another cash in i'll judge it on its merits but if the past half dozen or so albums are anything to go by i wont get my expectations up too high. and i think if you bother to read my posts you'll find nowhere did i state i HATE everything post brown... they've just not done very much i've liked since then :P

this is a thread about orbital and i've expressed my informed opinion about them (seen them live, bought/heard the records over many years), sorry it doesn't match exactly with your view of the band but thats my opinion so live with it. if you venture into any thread here with a bands name in the title i think you'll find they all contain opinions from people who like the particular band and people who dont, thats what the forums are for and thats all they are, opinions and everyones entitled to them and they're rarely expressed as fact but if thats how you want to interpret them and if you only want to read positive things about orbital or any other band dont risk going into any thread because you'll just end up reading things you may not agree with :P

I actually agree with some of things that Laid Back in the Sun has said. I thought their claims that Glastobury has got too commerical, before playing just about every other festival that would have them last year were a joke. I really enjoyed them in 2002 and 2004 at Glasto when I saw them, but was a little disappointed when I saw them in Brighton last year. Maybe they are more of a huge field type band rather than a smallish venue type band. Also their setlists do appear to be a bit samey the three times I have seen them.

If they are on at the same time as SW, I'll watch SW without a shadow of a doubt.

I didnt go to Global and would love to know if anyone here was in that audience to find out what sort of reaction they had. I saw them at Get Loaded in the Park at Clapham and it was an incredible audience with a lot of folk who had never caught them before and they loved it. There were some massive fans down the front with the Loopz crew which made it special (especially with the reactions to the reworkings of Chime Crime and Lush) but the kids around who hadnt got a clue who the Hartnolls were the best. Brilliant reaction and what a show...shame it had to end by 9pm.

    • Rotten communication. Actually god awful. Posting sporadically on IG, closing Mordor only to reopen and cause some serious carnage. Left the festival as it got too much for my 16year old daughter. She was devastated about Alex G and Mac…but TV girl could have saved it. Took us until 1220 and already home to find out they might/are playing. Pish.    and on another note, this festival has lost its bastard soul. Gone are the wee tents with local sellers selling vinyl, t shirts etc, now you can buy a 50 f**king eur official T-shirt. The ar*e is truely out of this event now. I went to Porto for the first time last year and it was fab. I love Barcelona and the line up is always stacked, but this festival is a corporate loss take. Hopefully a better day tomorrow.
    • f**king horrendous and seems they couldn’t run an egg and spoon race.  zero info and the crush waiting to get in to see Massive Attack was potentially disasterous. Zero info, no stewards at all and was told that the whole evening was cancelled, when we got to the exit. Because it rained. First time attendee and i’ve got onsay, i’m far from impressed. Scalping bastard taxis asking €37 plus for an €11 fare too. Wonderdul.
    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
