Anyone else not really care who plays?

Its all about getting out of the festival what you want, I used to love seeing bands and staying awake till 6 in the morning in my younger days. I realised this year that its getting hard work when I decided to get some sleep rather than see Altern8. Will happily miss bands to spend more time in Trash City and Arcadia next year

last year was my first and by Saturday I was so taken in by the place I didn't really care who I saw. on Sunday I think I caught 2 bands.

I dont really care anymore which bands are playing. I did care from about 11am till 1pm on the friday of my first glastonbury and then i didnt.

Dont get me wrong, i dig the music and each year there are bands i want to see and even set off to go and see, but i just get disctracted and end up on some crazy little side adventure

Nope, as far as I can remember there's no acts I'm particularly interested in seeing* that are currently listed as rumours.

(*perhaps because I've seen them before and aren't bothered about seeing them again, perhaps cos they're not my thing, or perhaps cos I think they're pants).

The rumours here are zilch to do with my own likes.

This is my point. Last year was my first and we spent ages analysing the clash finder and deciding who to see and which stages we wanted to hit at what times etc. By Friday afternoon, we'd pretty much binned the plan and just started wandering. Don't get me wrong, if a band I love were doing a set in one of the smaller venues I'd probably still make the effort, but if I'm honest it's not about the big stages and line up next year. I want to experience the hidden corners of the fesitival more and see things I wouldn't or can't ordinarily check out.

I think I only saw Kasabian at main stage this year , never got to the JP in fact I saw f**k all , but still had the best Glastonbury ever.

I would like more Weds and Thursdays tbh !!!!

I agree with the sentiment ! I love to catch new bands the i have not seen before but also like to have a definite favourite to look forward to seeing, after my first time last year i do need to spend more time wandering next year but going with three newbees next year may make this difficult, although our musical tastes might take us seperate ways on occasion. My best times this years were seeing the Horrors in the Park and The Mummers in Avalon, and i went their on my own whilst one mate got a hippy wedding with his girlfriend and the other went to see an artist in the dance field!

I care about the lineup cos why would you not want bands/djs that you liked playing? but would still go to glastonbury anyways.

2008 was easily the worst lineup for musicwise for me but i still had an amazing time. Made a nice change this year though having quite a few things that i actually really liked!

I'll be making a concious effort to keep away from the main stages next year. 2009 was my first year and possibly the most wonderful time i've ever had in my whole life. Of course I was in total awe in front of the Pyramid, but I think I enjoyed stumbling into Two Door Cinema Club (who?! - watch out for 'em) and Major Major and F*****d Up and Roots Manuva and Supergrass and Wonderstuff and Don Letts more than the main acts.

I'd go if the main act was Michael Eavis reading the phone directory! Couldn't give a monkeys who plays. Like others have said...would love to feel less pressured to see bands i love and would love more time to wander round and do more of the random stuff. I come home every year saying i'm gonna do more of it but need 48hours in every day!

It wasn't so long ago you didn't know who was playing until you got there. I mentioned Lou Reed on a previous thread the moment I found out was when my mates picked me up from the festival and told me he had walked passed their tent earlier that day. Never had a clue who was on and it didn't stop me going I had faith there would be something I liked I suppose.

However, I'd still go and love it, but Glastonbury's music is a big part of the festival and I don't think I would've had such an amazing time if Bruce, Blur, Gaslight etc played there this year. Still would've been amazing, but to me, the bands are important.

I do keep an eye on the rumours page but that is more out of curiosity to be honest. Unless an act on one of the main stages is an act I really want to see then I prefer the smaller stages with the acts you have never heard of before. I prefer more intimate performances to be honest.

Although, the legends spot is normally one I always look forward to!

It's inevitably going to be a great lineup, I just enjoy the speculation to be honest.

But I'd say to anyone who doesn't really care about the lineup, do what I'm doing next year and just do your best to avoid the lineup and then when it gets to the day there is so much more excitement.

I vaguely remember the days when the first NME of June(?) was a major highlight in the calendar (any time pre 2000 really). The NME would have the official line up done up in a lovely poster and whoop whoop you could finally start making plans for who you wanted to try and see at the G. There would have been a few dropped confirmations but the excitement of getting the main line up was such a thrill.

These days we know the vaguaries of the line up months in advance and have to listen to endless whingings from folks on forums bagging each other why their band is better than the others and all sorts of crap silliness for months on fecking end. It's boring and not to mention annoying. Ok, we can ignore the thousands of threads (and plenty do and may even avoid the Chat until around April when full on prep goes into action, cos its a pain in the arse returning to check up on how things are updating to only see more trolling and moanings!)

Bring back the days when the full line up was only known when you walked through the hallowed gates! No time to whinge...you just got on it, had the hour long speed read of the programmes and decided to catch who you can and then run around the stages or just get f**ked up in a field and not give a shit...I know that still happens but with things like the Clashfinder around it has taken some of the magic of arrival away.

Years of attending...even just ONE year of attending allows you to realise that the fest is not all about the bands and who is best and so on.

If the line is so bloody important to so many...why did you all buy your tickets not knowing who is playing eh??? You cant go ahead and buy tix and then come back months moaning the line up is shit!!!

2010 will be certainly bloody interesting cos of the anticipated 40th anniversary and a total head f**k for the thousands of people that want to be in 10 places at the same time trying to catch the killer line up that will be on offer.

Bowie, Muse, Prince, Dolly, Elbow, Metallica, RHCP, The Chems, Daft Punk, my mum...whoever fecking headlines will be incredible and no matter what happens...in the same way old Brucie tells every dancer every week on Strictly 'You're my favourite'...Eavis will say 'That was the best Glasto ever'!

I'd like there to be a few bands who I want to see, however am confident that the bookers will bring in quality acts I would never think to see otherwise.

I'd never have gone to see Bruce Springsteen in a concert, but he was (IMO) well worth seeing this year, same with Rolf.

Honestly, it doesn't matter much to me.

I've made the decision to fly halfway around the world and reserved myself a ticket already.

There are bands that have been discussed that I'd like to see. But, I'm committed to going no matter who is playing.

I'm sure I'll have fun and find plenty to do.

So, the only reason that I "care" a little bit right now is out of curiosity as to what options will be there to check out that weekend.
