V Festival conversations

I keep getting in to the same situation:

Get in to a conversation with someone about festivals and how great they are. I talk about the fact I go to Glastonbury every year. Then they say something like "yeah I've been to V festival a few times festivals are great arent they".

Every time this happens I just smile and agree but the rage burns up inside me and I want to tell them how rubbish V festival is and Glastonbury is 50 billion times better. But I dont want to seem arrogant, patronising or piss on their bonfire.

What does anyone else say in this situation?

It's a truly horrible place. £6.50 for Cheesy chips. 1.5+ hour queues for the only loo onsite. Chairs confiscated before going into the arena. Each act only on for 15 mins. The soulless, corporate atmosphere.

I spit on V Fest!

I went to V in 96 (the first year, so that's my excuse) but never again.

If someone says they enjoy V, I'll usually suggest they try another festival next year and spread their wings - there's only one person I know that thinks V is the best one.

I have worked at V at Weston park........... nothing like Glasto. V is much smaller and full of drunken kids/student types.

Glastonbury is much bigger, better, friendlier people, much more to see/do than music... need I go on!

The people I know that describe themselves as true festival goers are religious V festers :)

I've never been to any festival, but I've always known that Glastonbury was THEE festival to go to. When I was a kid I thought it was where the cool people went! :) I stand by that belief and now I'm going as well  lol

V fest from what I've heard, and seen on TV is absolute shite :O

I've done V Staffordshire twice. It's only got 2 stages, 2 indoor arenas and a few bars with DJs, half the entertainment appeared to be cheesy pop, and there's a load of knobheads running around (and shouting Oi Oi Savaloy all through the night). It took a lot of persuasion to get a camping chair in to the arena for my heavily pregnant mate. It's an OK festival if you like your cheese, and can just about understand people going if they can't get time off school / work for Glastonbury. I'm not planning on going back.

Slight exegeration on bands being on for 15 minutes, its not quite T4 on the beach

I only ever been for the day but its not that bad a place in the arena, there was an okish mixture of people proberly more chavs there than I would have liked and the only people who annoyed me were these stupid little 14 year old sluts during Kooks and this big old guy who stood as solid as a wall near the front for muse and kept giving me dirty looks for jumping around. I think he was with his daughter and her and her friends had gone a bit further to the front and he wanted to keep an eye on them.

But it's really not that bad a place apart from few morons but then surely during glasto you would encounter a few during your stay anyway?

Plus it took about 5 minutes if there weren't crowds to get from one stage to another

Agreed. It's amazing me just how snobbish people are on this forum. I've been to V five times and I've never had a bad time there. Of course it's not the same as Glastonbury. But then it's not trying to be.

As long as people are enjoying the festivals they are going to, what does it matter?
