V Festival conversations

I keep getting in to the same situation:

Get in to a conversation with someone about festivals and how great they are. I talk about the fact I go to Glastonbury every year. Then they say something like "yeah I've been to V festival a few times festivals are great arent they".

Every time this happens I just smile and agree but the rage burns up inside me and I want to tell them how rubbish V festival is and Glastonbury is 50 billion times better. But I dont want to seem arrogant, patronising or piss on their bonfire.

What does anyone else say in this situation?

Never been to V so can't comment on its merits - or lack of. But size isn't everything when it comes to fests so I wouldn't put V down just because it's smaller.

To me it's the atmosphere and the ethos/spirit of a fest that counts. As well as Glasto I go to a number of other smaller festivals which I've chosen because they share the same friendly, relaxed atmosphere that you can find at Glasto despite its size.

I suppose Glasto is really about a dozen quite different fests all going on at the same time. Speak to a group of Glasto goers afterwards and ask what they did/saw and it will often sound as though they went to quite different events.

So there are probably bits of V that you'll find at Glasto. But after reading the posts from a few here they sound like the bits that I avoid.

My instant reaction to a V line up is always that I think it looks great. Then i realise that i've seen everyone on the bill already and it no longer tempts me.

I've been to V 3-4 times and always enjoyed it - contrary to popular belief I have always found the people to be just as friendly and random, even though the place doesn't lend itself to it as much as Glastonbury does.

However, right now it's hard to imagine what would tempt me to go again.

    • Hezbollah rejected it. Really Israel should get the f**k out, and US and others should support the Lebanese govt in defeating Hezbollah.
