Freeloaders though, bit different. If there were a load camped nearby gobbing off about getting in for free, they should stump up some booze or other combustibles to make up for their lack of contribution.

Was speaking to a guy in the healing fields and his son was taking people in for a fee, on one of the trips in 3 out of the 4 had wrist bands and ME stopped and looked in their vehicle and said "well 3 out of 4 aint bad" and let them carry on. He knows that it happens, but as long as it isn't as bad as the years before then fence then I don't think he's too bothered.

I also had a friend that paid a guy £50 to come in in a van, put a wristband on her and then took it back when he went to collect more people. It should have been £80 but my friend knew the guy.

Don't get me wrong though I don't think it's right what they do, as they make a profit themselves rather than the money going to a better cause. At the end of the day if you block up a"hole" with more checks then people will find other ways to get in. It's like when the make these "herbal highs" illegal, new legal herbal highs will appear, just like fly agaric mushrooms, these have come out as a way around the making of magic mushrooms illegal. The only reason these mushrooms are still legal is because they are listed on the poisons list!

I've been with loads of people who've blagged it in the past, and I count myself amoungst a relative few who've blagged Reading ( a long time ago), but I love Glastonbury too much to see it threatened by gatecrashing, and wish people would just buy a ticket, they don't cost that much. The occasional heroic story amuses me, but blatant abuse of staff/vehicle passes pisses me off.

every year a few people do get smuggled in in vehicles. i know of a couple of folk that always smuggle people in this way. the reason they do it is that they are working for free and their crew allocation of tickets is not sufficient for them to do the job that they do. the people that are smuggled in work their butts off helping set up and for no wages. ............so in effect they are working for a ticket, but don't even get a ticket.

Well if u were handing spare wristband over to a friend u cud quite easily tell them the payment info couldn't u? To me it would make more sense to give a substitute ticket that states u lost urs rather than a second wristband

i never wear my wristband at Glastonbury, but that is partly because i hate wearing any jewelery/dangly things, but mainly for health and safety reasons. some of the thuggish black uniformed security do occasionally get a bit miffed with me about it

I was talking to a 55 year old guy up at stone circle for about half an hour before I realised he had no band on. I asked him about it and he said that his friends had rented a teepee and he had gone up on the weekend before hand and hidden in it until wednesday.

As I recall it wasnt compulsory to have a wrist band anyway, they were offered to you on the way in but you didnt have to take one. It didnt guarantee you entry and exit anyway, your ticket did that along with a pass, and could be checked if needed. The wrist band was more of a fashion accessory.
