Not sure either. Some of Eavis' statements about them have been quite harsh.

When asked about them appearing in 99 - "Not this year, not any year actually"

On them as a surprise guest in 03 - "Not on your f**king nelly sunshine"

Asked about them playing in 2010 - "That crowd of animal f**king paedos wont get within an asses roar of my f**king field!....the stupid f**king c**ts....."

I've seen them twice , saw them at hde park and they were awsome , as was James brown, what a man!

But when I saw them at v Staffordshire in 02-03 whichever it was they were pretty average I think . It would be a huge climb down from the awsome headline shows we were treated to this year

When I saw them, they were great. That was on the Mother's Milk tour, mind.

Saw them at Earls court on the stadium arcadium tour. amazing. incredible night. pants at reading though.

I definatly would attend should they attend, purely for the potential of it being an amazing gig. (the potential for it to be carp also noted )

I do, however, adore John Frusciante. Reckon we should get him there doing his solo stuff, tunes from shadows collide live... yes please. never happen though, would it?

Just to chuck my 2p's worth in, I saw that set at Reading in '07 as well, and they were dire. Terrible. Awful.

It was my first time seeing them and normally I'd give a band a second chance. But they were so dreadful this time round that I can't bring myself too.

So if they do play next year. I'll be in the JP. Or the Other Stage. Or the stone circle. Or anywhere else except the Pyramid.

I have seen them a couple of times at festivals. Well went to see them and ended up leaving I was so bored. Really hoping they pick better headliners then this for Glastonbury next year. However, as usual what one person loves another hates so hey ho we will have to all wait and see.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to return to musical action after a two-year hiatus by hooking up to write new material in October.

Drummer Chad Smith said that the funk-rock outfit were preparing to end their break from action by starting work on a new album – although they haven't decided on a producer yet.

"That's the plan (to return then)," he told Billboard. "It'll be two years in September, so now we're ready. You can't force people to play when they don't want to play or aren't ready to play or whatever – not in our band, anyway."

The sticksman added that the band hadn't outlined their specific plan for the new sessions, although he expected them to revert to their usual regime pretty quickly.

Smith said they would be likely to "do a lot of improvising and jamming and songs will come out of that. That's what we usually do. I don't know why it would be different".

Red Hot Chili Peppers' last album release was 2006's 'Stadium Arcadium'.

I thought hyde park was a bit disappointing personally; saw them in manchester in, I think, 2004; may have been 2003. Californication tour; I didn't expect much as not a huge fan of their stuff after one hot minute but they were awesome. frusciante was just stunning on the night, and they played "I could've lied" which is probably my favourite tune of theirs.

for hyde park, the sound was shite, and the setlist wasn't brilliant.

...as for their new material, it just grates on me now, I don't like kiedis' vocals on it....if I could see a set of blood sugar and one hot minute I'd be there in a shot, but it's not gonna happen at a festival, more likely an anniversary of their release.

I'm sure Eavis has said in the past that he didn't want them, and they've asked more than once to play...Of course things change but it doesn't sound very likely to me.

Plus NME talk out of their arse 99% of the time anyway....I wouldn't trust them for a second (which is what you really mean mike )
