Really regret not seeing blur

I used to hate Coldplay, saw them as a kind of Radiohead-lite, with all the good stuff taken out.

But some of the more recent stuff (and I'm at an age where stuff from 3 years ago counts as "more recent") is pretty OK. Not mind blowing, but deserving of respect.

Edit: But, they need to keep working if they're to make up for the horror of Yellow.

Fair point.

They are far from the worst band in the world but I find it astonishing that someone could call them the best headline act at glastonbury in the last 6 years.

Still each to their own. I expect there are some loons out there that like the flaming lips and nick cave.

I went to see Prodigy & spent the whole set screamig "Turn it up" .......it was like dancing to a car stereo where i was stood.

was well dissapointed.

still had a great night, was just a shame thats all

Glasto is full of impossible clashes and the size makes it difficult to find a path through it. Thats the weakness of festivals with multiple stages. Live with your choices. I for one suffered Glasvegas, they were truly rubbish but I was too knackered to wander off somewhere more pleasing and then trek back for the Prodigy. Blur I can live without but I understand why many others like them.

I must say I really enjoyed Blur (but then I enjoyed Bruce more).

However, don't be sorry about what you did see and what you didn't - you make your choice as you feel at the time, and that's it.

I would've happily gone to see Hillage and Gong either on Sunday night and probably had just as good a time (ditto Pendulum and Franz on Saturday).

I opted for Prodigy as I was seeing Blur the following week in London as a birthday treat from my sister so didn't want to spoil the surprise!

Prodigy totally blew me away and were my favourite band of the weekend. Plenty of old skool songs (which a lot of the crowd didn't seem to know much to my surprise) and the new ones sounded really good too. Best gig I've seen them do in years.

I learnt from bitter experience in 2007 that the best place to be on a sunday evening is the pyramid for a nice guitar band. I opted for the chemical brothers instead of the who and they were RUBBISH. Gutted.

The following year I went to see the verve and they were sensational, despite me never really being a fan.

The following year I went to see the verve and they were sensational, despite me never really being a fan.

I love the chems, and have seen them loads but they were awful.

I agree about the verve, but did you see them last year? As a one off greatest hits gig, it was tremendous. Nice singalong set etc

Trust me on this one - I'm on the winning side here

I left blur after parklife to go catch a bit of prodigy and only ended up seeing about 3 songs, and was left a bit empty handed which I still kinda regret as Im seeing prodg at Global...But its my own faults and no regrets at glasto!

Especially as I had my greatest glasto moment during blur, being part of the 80,000 plus strong crowd singing the chorus to tender after they had finished playing, watching Albarn get emotional and thinking 'this is why Glastonbury is the greatest festival'.

Even listening back to the mp3 actually gets me wet (in my eyes you sick ppl!)

But also makes me smile that you can hear it starting in two different waves because it takes so long to reach the other side of the field :lol:

      I got in for £11.25 in the end, which was absolutely ridiculously good value, and made the queues and overselling of the venue much more tolerable! Sniping in on other people’s unwanted tickets on the day of an event might become my new hobby I think 🥳

      sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.

      Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
