3 hours from Brighton to outside Shepton Mallett, 4 from there.

Set off at 8 Wednesday morning, arrived at 3 in the afternoon.

It was my 7th Glasto and first time I've ever queued to get in.

My brother in law was coming from up North and was in traffic nearby. A local came out of a pub and said he could take them on a shortcut for £5. He led a convoy of 3 cars to red car park, and saved them 2 hours of queuing!!!

Part of the problem was that they closed off the red car park route, so everyone had to go to East side, yet I know (because my brother in law was there) that there were plenty of car park spaces in red.

Seems that the stewards caused the problems more than anything

we left leicester at 8:30 and got to glasto about 5ish. but we got lucky cus at the end of the m5 a bus driver pulled up next to us and said if we followed him we'd save about 5 hours. we did and he took down all the small backroads and we got there an hour later, pretty nice guy really

We left Manc at half 7 and were at junction 23 on M5 by 11. We were due to meet mates of mine who'd come from Plymouth at about half 11 at Sainsbo's in Street so we could convoy (normal time for gettin there) but finally got to Street agt half 6! One of my mates had been there since 12 and another was about an hour behind us so we had to then wait for him. We got on site at about half 9 i think - the last few miles were ok - but a girl we know managed to save us 5 tents spaces in Park Home Ground and she'd been there sice 12 (she went east side). 14 hours in total. Absolute nightmare but we made up for being late by going to bed at 7 on Thursday morning!

PS First post since I've got back. Brilliant weekend. Possibly the best I've done!

Got to reading station, got straight on a train, was at Castle Cary about two hours after leaving the house.

Then queued in the scorching sun for three hours to get a bus the short way to the site.

Oh well ... that's the way it goes!

We left SE London at 0430am, got to site at 2030!! 16 hour trip, an absolute nightmare!

We go to within 10 miles of the site by about 7am when the car started making a funny noise, a sort of clicking sound when pressing the accelerator. A few miles later and smoke started coming out of the exhaust and then from under the bonnet. The car dramatically lost power and we limped to the next services at Camel Hill.

We called our roadside assisstance who couldn't get it started so they towed us to Wincanton where they told us the head gasket had blown and there was no hope of getting it fixed.

We were so close to the festival it was frustrating!

One of the mechanics gave us a lift to the Bath and West Showground (for £30) where we waited 6 hours for a bus! Our spirits were quite high though as we just drank cider in the sundhine!

Then were surly bus drivers who wouldn't let me on with the trolley  and the girls we were travelling with were put on a different bus to me and my mate, we had most of their bags and were dropped of at a completely different gate!

Then to top it all off, just got into the festival and the tyre on my trolley punctured and fell off!

Longest day of my life!!

Good to get all that off my chest, if you could be bothered to read it!! The journey home was bad too but I'll save that for another thread!
