I read the Times every day, and I don't find it particularly right wing. Some of their correspondents are right-wing, but the paper on the whole isn't that bad. Despite the fact it's partly owned by Murdoch.

I once picked up the Torygraph by accident (I was hungover) and read three or four pages and was thinking "Bloomin' heck, the Times have turned into fascists" ... !

I felt there was a really good age mix this year, and (approaching 30) on a few occassions i felt abit old, but i though it was great - added a good energy to the place. I think maybe alot more people are now going for the 1st time (easier than the mid 00's to get a ticket?) which helped the atmosphere this year - making it my fave year for a while.

the only w*nkerish behaviour i saw was from x2 groups 'Doing Glasto' as their stag/hen do's.. but then i guess this also comes with it being 'easier' to get a ticket for the last x2 years.

It difficult to blame anyone else except Nyika here. Glastonbury 2009 was the worst festival ever in any country, with a shit line up and shit people attending. However Nyika, with all her "cant wait for Glasto" and "I had a great time" talk clearly ruined it.

Seriously though, as a 29 year old (approaching 30 at a startling rate ), who was right up front row with "the kids" at the Prodigy, I found it very enjoyable. A lot nicer than when I was 17 or whatever bopping away to whatever landfill Britpop act was on stage, namely Oasis, full of thugs or idiots.

Great to see a bit of energy at the festival (from ANY age group). Crowd went ballistic for Blur and the Prodigy. The last couple of years has been dominated by a crowd of whiney old c**ts.

I live on a council estate, I'm hardly middle class! Like others have said, there are twats in every age group, it's stupid to blame any particular demographic for anything because there are good and bad in any age group, community etc.

Agree with all the other statements, age is no barrier (or excuse) for behaving like a tw*t. And in a crowd of 175K+ you're going to get your fair share of them from all walks of life and ages.

One of the great things is seeing the look on the faces of those who've come for the first time. I remember it well and still get that same look everytime I come back.

We had some lovely younger people camping near us and we always make a point to say hello as it helps break the ice, show the Glasto spirit and hopefully make them a feel little less worried about the mad old people camped next door. Indeed, I've found myself apologising to them for keeping them up til 5am. This year I even took down plenty of extra earplugs for those tents around me in case in the brief times I went to sleep my snoring became too insufferable.

Treat people as you like to be treated yourself.

I don't think teenagers ruined the festival at all. The people who ruined the festivals are definately the stuffy old folk who refuse to let you even speak FFS!! I was watching Neil Young and chatting to my mates, not shouting but probablt slightly louder than you do when your leathered and watching a band, and this horrible bint in front of us kept telling us to pipe down any time we started speaking! I could not help but pointing out that we were at a festival and if she wanted to listen to Neil Young in quiet then she should dig out fer casio tape player and hum along to Harvest Moon in peace!! Could not believe it, I was singing along and getting frowned at every 5 seconds...in which turn made me do it even louder. So don't worry, we are 24, 27 and 30 and even we got frowned upon!!

I know you should expect it, but if you look forward to watching a band and then it gets ruined by someone talking through it or singing out of tune then its really disappointing.

Neither is there some cut off point where the festival suddenly gained a twat element, at least unlike my early years at the festival (early 90s) the twats hadn't brought fire arms. But I'll advance some theories, its all a bit shocking, so I don't expect many will agree but its how I see it

When people say Glastonbury lost its spark, Glastonbury was better when, etc they really mean - When I was younger and had more energy and spark, not to mention culture was about me and mine not just me being culteral.

When people point and say the old the ignorant the young, the twats who do etc- what they mean is the people who do things i don't very little of which actually effects me but I'll have a moan anyway because its easier than moving away or getting on with what I'm doing.

Thats not to say everybody who goes to Glastonbury is a wonderful member of society, but I'm fairly sure reading this and other threads 90% of the moans and whines should be ignored or laughed at.

Happened to me at Neil Young in Dublin 2 weeks ago, and Bob Dylan. And about 100 other non festival gigs I've been too.

So apparently teenagers spoilt a lot of the festival. Well sorry for not being 40! I suspect if you were a teenager now then you would act in the same way, I'm not sure what we as a collective group did wrong but from what I could see of the people my age that I met we were all having a bloody good time minding our own business. There's the Peaches Geldof clones, who even annoy me a little, but not enough for it to ruin the festival! Glasto is really expensive, I had to spend a whole month's wages and then some on my ticket, so it's only natural that it will be the young people who come from a more middle class background, and so-called "rahs" as they are collectively known will be prevalent. The thing is, they need to be "glastocised", many first timers don't get the festival thing to start with, and if they don't by the end of the fest then they are unlikely to come back. You have to give us all a break, we're young, we do things a bit different and sorry if you don't like this but I'm sure you can avoid the peaches geldofs or alternatively don't let it get to you. CHILL OUT!

(and to anyone who pipes up that I'm not a typical teenager, it's cos I'm talking about the middle class ones, something I could never claim to be)

Only problem I had with teenagers was when I was at the bar and a group of 10 or so were all queuing up for beer separately. Each was asked for ID and none of them had any so they were all turned away adding 5 minutes to my queue time! Why I oughta...

I encountered virtually no anti-social behaviour in 5 days.

One image does stick in my mind however. Walking across Jazz World one night confronted by the silhouette of a slightly overweight young man pissing on the ground somewhere back from the sound tower. His minor transgression was madeup for by the cherubic pose he had adopted.

I got told off by my neighbours as well. I had read much justification of gazeebos on here, with people expressing how they were communal and a sanctity from the rain. Therefore during the overnight storm on Thursday I chose to take advantage of my local Gazeebo, and chill at 3am ish before sleeping. I was gradually joined by more locals, who had brews and smokes and stuff. Imagine my surprise when the owner of the Gazeebo got out of his tent to ask us to move on as he couldn't sleep.

As far as I am aware none of the above characters nor myself were teenagers.

the only 'twats' I came across were a bunch of 40/50 year old men sitting by the path hurling laddish abuse at people that passed, including myself... as an 18 yr old 1 time glastonbury goer and 2 time reading goer there are a LOT more friendly people at glasto of all ages.
