Fleet Foxes

OK maybe I don't get it, and everyone else is entitled to their own opinion, but I've listened to their album and my opinion is that they are DULL!, I can't think of anything I want to do less than waste my time boring myself to death over their drivel.

However they obviously have a big following and so they must be striking a chord with plenty of people so I'll finish this the same way I started by saying I just don't get it.

yeah i don't understand it either :/

i bought the album expecting it to be amazing and yeah there are a couple of nice songs, but nothing really interesting. live i just don't think they'd be very entertaining.

maybe i'm missing something!

great musicians, great voices, great songs. If they are not your thing then fair enough. But I don't see why, especially compared to a good half of the Pyramid lineup, they have less of a right to be there.

And believe it or not, they existed before the Guardian decided they were amazing, and a lot of us thought they were fantastic back then too.

Remember last year going to watch Goldfrapp, bored the arse off me, Fleet foxes remind me of them, very airy fairy type music.

Will be steering well clear of their set thats for sure, in fact will hardly be at the Pyramid at all this year maybe only Blur.

So I can admire their technical skill, and like the album in an 'on in the background' type way, and even went to see them live.

But they just don't stir my soul. I find them weirdly unmoving considering the amount of emotion the lead singer puts into it live.

It feels a bit ersatz, as if its an exercise in trying to create a particular sound.

But only opinions.

No I really like them.

But do continue to spend your time articulating how you don't like a band. I mean it's not like you're wasting time that could be spent on, oh, say, finding stuff you do like.

There's so much amazing music in the world, why waste your energy talking about the stuff you don't like? Unless you're directly asked of course, would probably be rude not to say it then.

Don't like? Just file under "don't like" in brain and then move on B)

I like Fleet Foxes but I won't be going to see them for two reasons, firstly I have my doubts as to whether they will come over well on the Pyramid, they are much more a late night tented band IMO. I can only assume they have been put there due to their current popularity.

Secondly they clash with Lamb and nothing will keep me away from theose cute little furry ones.

    • Orbital opening the Other stage is a bold choice!
    • Great start for them
    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
